Recovery, Agility, and Armor buff ideas

Okay so all three classes have these 3 stats. They don't do much. Now I know they definitely make a difference, I'm just saying it's pretty subtle. So here are my ideas. Recovery: The recovery stat now also affects the amount of time a debuff remains active. Suppression, Mark of the devourer, blindness, etc would last for a shorter period of time the more recovery you have. Having trouble with Thorn or those damn firebolt grenades? Invest in recovery. This effect is especially potent on warlocks. (Optional, boost the effect of recovery in general, the point of this is to make stat builds have a serious effect on your character.) Agility: 1. The agility stat now effects the sprint speed and sneak speed of your character. 2. The Agility stat now effects movement speed when in the air and fall speed. Your jump arc remains the same. The increased speed won't make you go farther and the increased fall speed won't ruin your jump. (Ya know fast fallers in super smash bros? Like that.) This effect will be especially potent on hunters, it'll make you feel a lot zippier in the air. Right now it's like moon jumping, increase your agility to make you less of a target in the air and traverse the map faster. Armor. Increase the amount of health gained from the armor stat. Small increase to base armor on titans. (Again the whole point is to have the stats matter more). (Optional, because it might be over powered, decrease to precision damage taken based on your armor. That doesn't mean you'll be surviving sniper headshots, this will be effecting primaries more than anything). Sorry if this is hard to follow, I made it late at night. Tell me what ya think, peace. TLDR: Right now: Agility doesn't matter, Recovery matters a little, and Armor matters a little bit more. Go max armor, your character is still pretty much the same. I want to change that, want to see how? Read the post. Edit* Damage over time would need to be changed for my ideas to work. It would need decrease your health based on a percentage. That way you couldn't resist DoT just by investing in armor. A lot of mechanics and abilities would need to be overhauled for any of this to function well, but I still thought I'd share.

Armor needs to do something else otherwise you will need a balance pass on every archetype of weapon in the game. Maybe protection from AOE weapons and grenades.

          • Recovery ideas are neat. By Armor do you mean Toughness? Speaking of which could having a high Armor/Toughness work to reduce splash damage, fall damage and, possibly, add a bit more resistance to elemental damage?

            • The recovery and agility ideas are excellent. I absolutely agree with those, and wish Bungie would work on that instantly. Not only the general ideas, but every single specific, I absolutely agree. The armor...I think only a VERY small change is necessary, if any at all. Armor not only affects max HP but also damage resistance. It affects battles more than people think, and it requires absolutely no additional skill save getting into a gun battle just like everyone else. Agility takes game skill to be effective with. Armor does not. Bottom line, I'd be ok with giving titans a slight HP boost but damage resistances are fine as is. Sorry that turned into a huge rant. My biggest thing that I dislike in this game is that a Titan can out "run" (titan skate) an agility-maxed Hunter. If you don't agree, seriously, why?

                • Let's also let Agility affect Slide distance. Not too much of course.

                  • I disagree. all stats are pretty important. The problem is 2 fold. 1) the situations in which they make a difference are extreme ones. which is debate-able. 2) you need to have max or nearly max in order to get any tangible effective difference. Instead of buffing what these stats do they should add +1 or 2 of said stat to several talents. Making it easier to hit max and gain these effects. A hunter with max agility has better default strafing speed and becomes rather insane when you go over the max. On top of that your jump height gets pretty strong. which is helpful if you like to retreat alot or if you cloak often. Lastly it makes your base movement faster. meaning it's less likely that your weapon won't be ready when you come across enemies. SUPER helpful in rumble. A max armor titan (and in some cases with a warlock) is also pretty insane. especially when you go overboard. you can end up surviving a golden gun, a sticky, and a shoulder charge. and in some cases it will increase the TTK on you. Like for example a pulse rifle that would normally 2 burst someone would take 3 bursts. Which is especially annoying after pulses got nerfed basically requiring 100% headshots in order to kill nearly as fast as you used to. and a high recovery build is probably the scariest thing of all. Dot is shirked off rather easily if the opponent lets you alone for even a little. And I did that on a hunter. It also lets you basically take on multiple people one after another without being too screwed. if you are good at spacing and stalling you'll have the upper hand with max recovery every time. These stats are supposed to be small and not be a huge game changer. But that doesn't make them useless. If destiny switches to a heavily RPG base in the future where classes have far more depth to them then I would be fine with these getting boosts. But as it stands right now destiny is mainly an FPS. and the key to an FPS is consistency. which is something that would be lost if we beefed up these passive stats.

                  • I personally don't think there is any need to change the way the armor and the recovery stat works. Agility on the other hand definitely needs a buff. I like the idea of agility giving you a faster sneak speed though. I also think that agility giving you a faster movement speed while you are aiming down your sights would be a good idea, since currently it is pretty much impossible to out strafe an 1000 yard stare due to it's high aim assist. Also I run all recovery... I think that it is more valuable than high armor if you are playing as a bladedancer or a nightstalker.

                    • Sounds like great ideas, but some of the recovery stuff might have to not affect certain raid debuffs or it could break certain raid encounters.

Bump, Also recovery agility and armour stats should be on your gear and intellect strength and discipline should be in your subclass tree.

                    • They should just put more emphasis on the stats. There ought to be a huge difference between minimum armor and maximum armor. I can tell the difference between minimum recovery and maximum recovery, but it's still not a wide enough gap.
