It's a "loveable" weapon for year one players. We enjoy the looks, the bullets, and we can't forget DoT. DoT is the real problem with Thorn. Thorn is like any other slow/medium RoF handcannon especially with final round. The only difference of course is Mark of the Devourer. It only does up to 15 damage per shot. I honestly don't see why people are complaining about a year 1 weapon in Normal Crucible....
Every exotic has their own perk,do they not? Let's name a few just to make sure...
Monte Carlo Method-
Suros Regime-
The Last Word-
Touch of Malice-
String of Curses-
Napalm-
Sleeper Simulant-
First Curse-
We'll since people being able to kill someone else with a exotic with its own perk creates the crybaby some kinderguardians and veterans who despise thorn are,the least Bungie should do is nerf the DoT. But why would they do that? It's a year one weapon! It doesn't do crap in trials! Can't bother anyone in PvE,can it?! They've already nerfed it before TTK! What more do you want? To completely remove Thorn out of the game? They've had it for a very long time. I doubt they'd even consider removing it.
Again, the least they could do is either lower the damage,or lower the time for the damage. I can't believe the community has gone to this. Whining over a weapon that can't do anything to you in major events... If no other weapon can compete with Thorn, why not use Thorn and then we'll see if that many people whine. I'm sure some will. Not all. I'm just glad we've past the Mida ages...
TL;DR:Stop whining about Thorn,it's decently balanced, can't do crap in major events, has its own special exotic perk,it's not used THAT much in normal crucible.
Tell me what you think. Correct me as much as you want.

How about no

1 ReplyI feel it isn't OP, just people have some kind of lasting hate for it. It's understandable, but really...
-
3 RepliesI'm a year two player and I don't really care about it. I don't ever feel like the dot makes a significant enough difference that if they took it away I would die less to it. I don't die more often to thorn than to other guns. If someone kills me with thorn, they would have killed me with pretty much any other legendary hand cannon in that situation.

It was OP. It's not now. That dreaded green screen is rare now.

2 RepliesEdited by DeeFreshSage: 1/8/2016 10:52:32 PMI do not understand this community. People will put you down and make you feel bad over what gun you choose to use. Thorn was my first exotic bounty gun. I loved it. I enjoyed the uniqueness of the gun because nothing else was like it. It has a unique sound, unique look, and unique exotic perk effect. I remember doing the epic polgoth strike in vanilla Destiny trying to get that gun. It was a struggle, but me and a few friends got it done after a multiple wipes. And then I remember, I promised those same people I would help them when they were trying to get their Thorn. Once I started using it in crucible I would receive hate mail (trust me I normally do terrible in crucible, so getting hate mail for using a certain weapon was a big deal). People would call me a scrub, filthy Thorn user, and even challenge me to use a different weapon because it was so good. People shamed me in year one to not use the weapon and it should never be like that. I eventually threw it in the vault and never looked back. But I simply and genuinely like the gun. I even used to use it in vanilla pve. But if they bring it back for year two, I am going to use it. Forget what other people say. Edit: Sidenote: I do agree Thorn needs a nerf. It needs slight nerf to the stability and significant nerf to range. Keep the damage and damage overtime the same. It just needs the damage falloff to start much closer to the player. And the farther the enemy is the less damage each shot does. To the point where it may take 5-6 bodyshots to kill.

2 RepliesI despise the gun. When I first got it hardly anyone used it. I didn't like the sights, my color blind ass couldn't see it half the time even with the setting changes(which took forever to get added to the game) but I used it because it was "exotic". I don't like to tbag but if I see some chump camping out in a corner trying to cross map cheese with Thorn, they get nuts or a clam slam to the face.

Hmmmmm. I was just using it and doing... Too good for how I was playing... Getting kills I definitely didn't deserve, outgunning LMGs etc. It's REALLY strong.
-
-blam!- another nerf for it. Its fine as is i rarely kill anyone with DoT, granted it was way OP back in year 1. I think they did well with nerf, its still usable as opposed to most things they nerf which are often nerfed into the ground. I mainly use it to stop someone from healing so they're easier to kill. The players complaining about it are often those retards who don't know when to challenge and when not to and just right into bullets in hopes of getting a kill.

RETURN OF THE KING BOYS

The reason people hate throb so much is that exotics aren't supposed to be able to outperform legendaries. That's the exact words from the sandbox designers

6 RepliesWhen it comes to year 2, it'll be what everyone uses. Has too much history and the amount of current bitching has given it hype. The gun is pretty balanced, 3 body shots to kill, 3 head shots to kill....very average ttk for a hand cannon. But people are complaining about mida and stormcallers, you know they will complain about thorn
-
2 RepliesThorn is balanced now, I agree. Now let's NOT talk about the thorn, still have PTSD from it.
-
2 RepliesNeeds to be removed from the game. Buh bye
-
1 ReplyLet's not talk about thorn
-
1 ReplyIt's the only hand cannon that has a fair chance against the tlw at short to mid range

1 ReplyFirst curse says hello...

7 RepliesThorn is 3 shot headshot kill in trials. Try it sometimes. As long as you are above 290
