I think everyone has noticed an increase to the amount of sun singers in the crucible. It's not just a case of people that are not accustomed to pvp using it. That sub class has become more of a crutch class than ever, all they do is throw burn grenades before each gun fight. It comes from around a corner or over a wall then the player creeps around to get a basic one hit kill. Then there is the flame shield giving them an advantage when the fists are flying. The problem is clear, a sunsinger is likely to be in almost every match you play. The destiny community as a whole usually leans to the cheesy side of the meta, you've seen it with TLW and Thorn.
So what's your opinion?
Mine is the worst and cheesiest of the community are embracing the crutch to an embarrassing degree.
Excuses, the fact is you're either bad at the game and don't want that cheap shit changed or you've grown comfortable with this nonsense. No other class can regenerate Heath or gain a shield on hit but "it's fine." No other class has those grenades people spam, this just confirmed what I know the community leans toward the cheese things to have a chance.

I've been playing doubles and I went against a couple double sunsinger teams... It was just stupid, they can hit both of us for every gunfight and nearly kill us, so all they need to do is shoot us once. This is compounded by the fact that doubles is typically on small maps, so a rush strategy just seems so easy. It was immensely frustrating.

They are Bumsingers.

7 RepliesEdited by Cowboybebop: 1/9/2016 3:22:45 AMIt's a crutch in sweaties. [spoiler]I use it too, and it's a crutch. It needs some slight reworking. The reason why it's not overpowered in normal gametypes is due to most people not using it correctly. If you're in a sweaty against 3 sunsingers, it's just annoying to play against. Anyone who says it's not overpowered are just casuals that have no idea how the subclass works in competitive play.

If I get hit before engaging with any grenade, I'm out. From someone who uses it.. The way to beat a tracking -or any- grenade is awareness and a good backup plan. Homing grenades are slow as sheet anyway you should be able to run out of sight before it hits you. Know when you can win and bail hard if you can't. Source: I played last IB with voidfang, regardless of subclass.

Sunsinger needs a complete overhaul. It's good for shitty reasons.
-
I just think bolt grenades should only be able to hit one person

As a warlock main, who has used sunsinger quite a bit in PVP, Viking funeral does deserve a slight nerf maybe reduce it by about 1-2 burn ticks.
-
Are you serious? What was considered close to the second worse super of year one and average neutral game is OP now? You're an idiot.
-
OP is salty
-
Just a little nerf to Viking funeral and Sunsinger is fine.
-
I'm pretty sure there are more Hunters in crucible than Warlocks. A voidwalker has an exotic that buffs armor and gives them full health on every melee. Nightstalkers can also throw poison smoke and a grenade and kill you before you can even creep out of the fog.
-
But... but... i use the solar gernades... and its what brought me back to this game.... why would you do that to me ;-;
-
My opinion? Honestly I could care less what is done to Sunsingers in PvP, I prefer walking with the void more then anything in PvP. The grenade issue I see you pointing out can be made for all classes and subclasses, trip mines, lightning grenades etc. it's a strategic option available to weaken your opponent or kill them. Ever played Halo 3? Or any Halo for that matter, toss a grenade and headshot, easy kill. Anyone who wants to disagree go ahead, I won't lose sleep over it.
-
They're balanced as hell wtf.
-
Sunsinger is the best subclass in the game for PvP.

Edited by Iron Akatsuki: 1/8/2016 10:11:00 PMSunsingers have one of the best neutral games in the game, as you pointed out. And yes it is crazy to see a team of 3 Sunsingers all throw firebolt grenades at the same time. I wouldn't nerf them. Instead, I would want to buff Defenders to make Force Barrier proc on hit rather than on kill. Force Barrier is better than Flame Shield, but I think it is justified because Ward of Dawn isn't netting kills directly. This makes another viable class type that can compete with Sunsingers in the close range neutral game. I would rather see things get buffed than nerfed.

2 RepliesYou have literally 0 valid points. You probably just get killed by sunsingers a lot even though right now they're a pale comparison to how they used to be. Fuсk yourself and your post and get good. Any actually skilled player wouldn't want something nerfed unless it is legitimately over powered. Guess what you are?
-
Uhm are we not going to talk about the assload of strikers and bladedancers in the crucible?
-
Honestly Grenades is the whole point of the warlock super. It's the only thing warlocks got going for them. All of our exotics are based on
-
The Firebolts are fine when there is one, but coming against a team of three each using the VF and ToF build is downright obnoxious.
-
Wait so I'm confused. Titans don't throw a lightning grenade before rushing in? Hunters don't throw a trip mine first? Every class leads off with a grenade unless you are using sticky grenades or supression grenades. Why would anyone not use an ability to damage their opponents before exposing themselves to gunfire?
-
I use solar grenades, gift of the sun, radiant skin.... I don't see the problem
-
My Invective enjoys feeding them pellets
-
I enjoy the free double kills they provide.
