Thank-you to gallp13 for showing me these stats. Weapon use stats for Iron Banner this week so far:
Scouts 18.61%
Shotguns 17.79%
Auto Rifles 15.66%
Pulse Rifles 13.65%
Snipers 10.31%
Machine Guns 8.95%
Hand Cannons 8.5%
Rocket Launchers 3.28%
Fusion Rifles 1.18%
Swords 1.07%
Sidearms 1.01%
I wish we could see numbers from early last year, but they don't go back that far. Pulse Rifles were at 24% use before they were nerfed. No idea on Hand Cannons pre 2.0
This is Bungie's idea of balancing though. JW apparently thinks wanting actual balanced weapons (which we had right up until they gutted ARs in 1.1.1) makes us idiots.
JW and his sandbox team don't care if weapons are fun and they don't care if they're balanced performance wise. Their one and only criteria is what we equip and they "balance" on usage.
ARs were equipped too much. Didn't matter they were not even the best primaries at the time in actual performance, they got destroyed.
Hand Cannons were probably up over 20% usage. Didn't matter that Scouts and Pulse Rifles could beat them, now they're under 10%
Pulse Rifles were at 25% usage. Never mind that they were still beatable by Scouts and that they were only outclassing ARs and Hand Cannons because Bungie ruined them, Pulse Rifles had to be nerfed.
Now Scouts are dominating. They're only at 18%, but that's over double Hand Cannons and what's worse, MIDA double anything else in IB. It doesn't matter that it's just a really good weapon. It doesn't matter that it's the same 4 hit kill it's always been. It doesn't matter that all these nerfs make the game less fun. It doesn't matter that the weapon nerfs, removal of elemental primaries, reforging, Etheric Light and all their stupid dumbing down of anything fun doesn't jibe with their mantra of us growing more powerful.
Bungie balance on what we equip and if we like it, it's -blam!-ed.
Shotguns 18%
Snipers 10%
Fusion Rifles 1%
Sidearms 1%
The answer is to keep making shotguns worse. Keep making them less fun. Because surely it's easier than making Fusion and Sidearms more fun, right?
We deserve the real numbers and the real stats. Click on the profile of anyone who has had the same account/gamertag since the Halo days and go to their profile. Click legacy stats and be amazed at the depth of information available after every single match.
Who was killed by whom and by what. Where they were killed, how many times. Everything you needed to know about what weapons did what was right there.
We can't have real statistics though because then people might actually try deciding on their own how they like to play, rather than JW and crew dictating what we use and making us grind something new every other month.
I have not had fun playing a single match of IB this week. For the first time it's a chore just desperately trying to find some -blam!-ing weapon that I don't hate.
Funny, I -blam!-ing loved my year one gear.
