Can someone please explain to me the point in iron banner?
It's a game mode where level advantages are enabled...but besides that, what's the point in playing it?
None of the gear I get seems worthwhile, and the gear you purchase from Lord Saladin is 280.
Surely, for a limited time event like iron banner, you'd make the rewards for getting rank 5 to be at least 300 light, but no...you can buy a shader and an emblem and that's it.
The weapons for rank 4 look nice, but you can easily get better stuff elsewhere at a higher light level.
Iron Banner just doesn't seem worth it to me. Maybe if there was an exotic up for grabs for achieving a certian rank within the time frame, then It'd be more appealing.

The rng drops from the after match rewards are pretty good

It's basically there to keep you distracted and playing Destiny. Not there for me. I've been playing Halo 5 and I just the john cena assassination.

I started ib at light 270. Now I'm at 300 if I equip my sniper. Managed to even get a 318 ghost from ib.

Once you got rank 5 you get higher drops. I'm playing in hopes for that 320 ghost.

The IB is another great opportunity to test your luck against the RNG. Unfortunately for me, a 319 👻 shell was the best i could get.

The gear and weapons that drop tend to be higher in light level than what you can buy - some are even max and have different perks/rolls on them.

Edited by snout-finger: 1/4/2016 6:25:51 AMThe point is that the armour and weapons are supposed to be ornate and typically weapons are better than they appear. You shouldn't judge quality by light level a 320 gun can still be a bag of shit, much better to work more on infusing a good gun with perks you love to use...same for armour and never forget...appearance matters.

I like the cloaks and the ghost shell you can get for ranking up. Some of the guns have decent base stats, such as the scout rifle. You can also buy some shaders. That's my point in playing.

Iron banner rank 5 package got a 310 ghost oh wait everyone gets that hmm better go to orbit *goes to orbit* BOOM 320 hunter boots drop yeah that's the reason to play RIGHT THERE endgame drops like that I've already got 320 boots but still it was awesome to see that happen

I just think it's fun. Really competitive but not like trials competitive. And the rank 5 package is worthwhile.

Iron banner gear looks better than most other gear, IMO. Also, it's an opportunity to play crucible with a full team. Most of my friends only play a lot of crucible during Iron Banner.

Fun and USUALLY provide players who do not run raids to get higher light level items. This current Iron Banner is failing on the later. :-(
