The ahamkara.
Could they be the dark traveler or at least ones that made a deal with the nine to ensure their survival?

In any case, I believe we may know where true dark heart lies. Jupiter, maybe even inside the great red spot.

I think I remember reading that the Ahamkara is just an elusive, dragon-like species that inhabits Venus. You can see them flying around in the sky if you pay really close attention.

Bungie confirmed that those aren't Ahamkara. They're some kind of bat-like species.

The Ahamkara are closely related, in one way or another, to the Worms the Hive have a symbiosis with. The Books of Sorrow basically spell it out.

I see them as possibility because the card doesn't specifically say who they made a deal with. Didn't the Ahamkara make deals with the guardians too. they gave something in exchange for power. It might also explain where the remaining Ahamkara retreated to when they were driven to the border of extinction. and when Xur says [quote]"There are no birds where I come from. The things that fly are like shadows." [/quote]

I'm not denying that it's possible, it could certainly be the case actually, though I don't think one line about something flying like a shadow helps support it one way or another. I wouldn't be surprised if you are right because Ahamkara do make deals, and a I do believe Ahamkara are of the Darkness (covered it here https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/182746373/0/0 ).
