My thoughts:
Last Word: yes, this gun gives abit of an edge. Handcannons got overnerfed earlier so their range got kicked up again, making TLW not too far off the monster it was for awhile. Still, it's best for Crucible matches in small confined areas; a Scout or pulse rifle will own it outdoors.
MIDA: This gun was the exotic that Xur was selling last week. This plus its recent ascension from Y1 obscurity means it's getting lots of play. I honestly don't think it's that much better than other Scouts. My "exotic primary" Guardian vacillates between TLW and Boolean Gemeni.
Scouts in general: Lots of "large open space" arenas in the Iron banner latterly. Scouts have an edge. All three of my Guardians are using them, and not the same make either.
Shotguns: Since fusion rifles and sidearms are just less effective, shotguns are the go-to gun for close range. Since Bungie seems incapable of nerfing a gun in Crucible without nerfing it everywhere else, that's probably not going to change unless they decide to make shotguns useless everywhere, or massively cut FR charge times.
Snipers: It takes great skill to center a Guardian's cabeza in your rifle's sights and turn him off. But there are people who can do it. And yes, it's a near-infallible one-shot kill. Snipers are like traffic jams, homework, and diarrhea: annoying things in life that simply must be dealt with.
