In our attempt to reach the ODST Firefight leaderboards, my friends and I made it our goal today to reach a score of 10 million. We started a little past 12 PM EDT and played through 11 PM. By the end of the game, after spending all our lives, we had a score of 11,156,131.
All of us are across town from each other, so we were all playing the game on our own Xbox 360s over the Internet. There were no connection problems throughout the entire game. In fact, since we were each connected over the Internet, if there WAS a connection problem, the game would have ended right there and thrown us ALL out of the game.
About 10 minutes after waiting for our score to appear, we started another round of Firefight to check is the servers were backed up. We got one kill, then ended the game. Not surprisingly, the short game of ~500 points appeared, but there is still no trace of our 11.1 million score?
It's extremely frustrating and disappointing to literally waste over 11 hours, reaching a new record, only to have it not count. The bug is not with us, but with the game or the servers. Firefight is a huge part of ODST, and the stats are a huge part of Firefight. It's quite obvious Bungie wants to put a lot of emphasis on scores, motivating people to play the game with leaderboards, service records, and "flaming, red-eyed skulls". With this bug, the motivation is gone.
So, why is this happening? Why does this bug even exist? Is it something we are doing? Is it flagged for review? Will it ever post? Is anything ever going to be done about it?
I've taken several photographs for proof and we have uploaded a film of the game (99.4 MB) for irrefutable proof. Links are below.
Posted by: Shaboopi cannon Did you save the film? If so, submit it to bungie, man. You've got the highest medium record. Excellent job.
Yep, do that. Gratz on the 11 million.
-
ok guys well jeez thats pretty amazing that u did that and woa thats a HUGE score, but seriously? 11 hours on medium! is that even worth is dude? frends are needed... i mean well done u can drive around in a chopper 4 a whole day. big woop

You're not alone. It's the #1 reason why Firefight activity has declined so sharply. It's pretty sad that such a big issue hasn't even been mentioned by Bungie. You'd think that when they see avid fans losing interest so quickly that they would at least assure us that they are working on it, so as not to lose a following. Either they are so confident that it won't affect their fan base to any significant degree, or they're just so busy with their Feedback survey, Bungie Store, and Halo: Reach play tests that they don't have time to look into it. Or maybe they have looked into it, but there's just no way for them to fix it, and they're too embarrassed to admit it. Either way, it's a shame. [Edited on 11.04.2009 12:38 PM PST]

same problem here...6 mill on legendary...no stats stupid...i may never play this game again because of this crap

Cool Story Bro
-
Posted by: TheMoleN1 I just did the same. 7.7 Million, and no upload. Hopefully Bungie can fix the problem and give us our skulls. =)
I hope so, even if we have to fast forward to the end of the 8 hour film to screenshot the final score.
-
My game didn't upload because we sprinted past the post-game carnage screen and looked at stats when we were all back in the lobby. Make sure NO ONE LEAVES and that you all sit at that Carnage screen until someone confirms the scores were uploaded online. Having a computer nearby (or a wireless controller) is a huge help for that...
-
The question is not about his skill or choppers, it is why the game did not show up.
-
The same thing happened to me only me and my friends had 700,000 points, not that much, but it kind of pissed me of because it was hard to get that on Heroic.
-
This has happened to me as well, got a score of 5.5 mill on Heroic. No show on scores. So what did I do? Tried again. Last night after about 5 hours we got to about 4 million when we ran out of lives. Not as great, but whatever, the scores actually loaded. We plan on trying again next weekend, too. [sarcasm] SO UNFAIR because GOD DAMMIT we have to play more video games!!! NOOOO [/sarcasm]
-
I believe either that bungie is not paying enough attention to the forums or that they were serious when they said choppers don't count.

This is obviously a big problem that Bungie should address in the next weekly update. I haven't gotten a very high score yet so it does not really matter to me yet. I hope Bungie can do something for those of you who have been screwed over.
-
That's unfair :(

Nice job using your spare time, whether it be above or below the average user. And you could have spent your BS time at work doing something else, so also a nice use of that time as well. Not that I'm any better -- I have thousands of games too, and here I am on the forums (also at work). The underlying difference is that I'm not going around criticizing people for what they choose do with their time. Nice come back though. You almost saved yourself on that one.
Posted by: bark0de
Posted by: Final Sentence Nice job of using your spare time... well done, do you feel you got anything from it besides screwed?
Nice job playing 2733 Halo 2 games, 2930 Halo 3 games, and 46 ODST games. Also, nice job with your 300 Bungie.net forum posts. FAIL.
Thanks, in total that's well below the average members on this site that have 5K - 10K games played on Halo 3 alone. My posts are done during work:) Sorry for still making money while BSing:)

You were playing on normal.

umm you got to do it on legendary ummm im sorry if you see in the skulls of the firefight score it increases the difficulty as the score is greater you do it on normal normal score goes up until 100k then it starts heroic You need to do it again in legendary

*Sigh* I am in the midst of a similar situation......me and a friend decided do Lost Platoon and see how far we could get. At 15.5 Million points, with 26 Lives left we ended the game due to exhaustion. (And yes, we did save the video to prove we had enough lives to keep going for almost forever....it really is THAT easy on Lost Platoon) It's been 2 days since than and the score has not shown up on my B.net Service Record (but it does show up on my in-game service record). ............here's to hoping Bungie responds to my polite email
-
should have had match making for firefight
-
I got the same problem, Yes i was on Lost Platoon and No i actually didn't use the chopper, instead i got 1621 kills with the Wraith... For 7 hours and 41 minutes, we got 5,743,130 points, we waited in the lobby for 40 minutes while checking bungie.net.... signed out then signed back in... (btw it was me and a friend on normal) It still says it on our in-game service record.... and we even started another game for 58 secs and that loaded immediately, and then we even helped another friend get the endure achieve for only 1.6 mil, and that even loaded immediately..... i don't care about the leaderboards, i just want all my medals and points... the game isn't even on my history and i have the film saved just not uploaded because i have yet to renew my bungie pro because it's 55 MB Soo i'm sure bungie knows, i just think that they weren't expecting everyone to be so competetive... and btw for everyone above... the whole no chopper thing WAS A JOKE... and besides i decided to use Wraith :P Thanks for bringing this up, i also have a thread.... Lets hope that bungie is working on it
-
Well I've read some posts about the chopper, well it doesn't matter. If your game doesn't show up in the game history of bungie.net, then that's a bug. There might be a chance that bungie has the records, but there is a problem. Otherwise, you're screwed and you can't do anything about it. I'm sorry. [Edited on 10.06.2009 9:29 PM PDT]

the problem with chopper that skulls dont have affect as it does on warthog. so on lost platoon bungie is not going post any score on it since its so easy to score high points by useing chopper. So some one score high points off of another map then complain.
-
Just got 4.6 million points solo on lost platoon and hour ago and it hasn't posted to my service record. this is definitely a problem if bungie is putting emphasis on scoring. Used the chopper a lot but I didn't hide in a corner. Bungie said they didn't have any issues with chopper use; just as long as it's used legitimately.
