How a ranked competitive playlist should work.

I'm building up this idea using a few of these guidelines: -There's enough of a desire for a barebones style playlist that it has been added to the community wishlist. Inferno currently does not satisfy this desire as no radar is not a significant enough change. -I also believe that a halo 3 style ranked playlist is also on the wishlist, I'll have to check it. -Making a competitive game mode means standardization. It's easy for games like halo that have standardized weapons and harder for games with a lot of complexity in weapons and perks. -Extended from the last point, the Red Bull rift demonstration was the closest to a true competitive game mode that has existed in this game so far. Every player had every type of weapon but every player also had the same roll on those weapons. -Bungie loves rep grinds. Bungie also loves random. Players love loot. It's just how destiny works. So here's how the playlist works: Permanent playlist, game mode changes on a certain interval. Every week seems a bit too chaotic so maybe every other week? Fireteams enabled but fireteams must face fireteams of roughly equal size and average skill makeup. Rumble weeks don't have fireteam support. Rank is determined on your place among all players in the match. Top third moves up, middle third remains the same, bottom third decreases. Got a 5 k/d but performed dead last on your team because you hid the entire match and only got five kills in a game of clash? Not going to cut it. Win/loss matters to a small extent. The rank increase of "best in game and won" should be higher than "best in game but lost" likewise "worst in game and lost" should be hurt harder than "worst in game and won". Here's where the challenge for the developers begins: Player inventories have to be hidden while they are in this playlist. Armor must be made into purely aesthetic items while in this playlist and then return to normal when they leave. Every player is given a a legendary auto rifle, scout rifle, handcannon and pulse rifle. Same with a sniper, shotgun, fusion rifle and sidearm. Same with a machine gun, a rocket launcher, and I guess one of the legendary swords. Each one of these weapons will be the same for all players. They should be pulled from every possible legendary weapon in the game but have current perk selection. The set of weapons will be changed every week meaning they have to be deleted and replaced. Now how you do this without accidentally deleting everything in a player's regular inventory? Idk. But this accomplishes standardization while retaining perks. Having a weekly change means that any "metas" that emerge will be overturned on weekly reset. It also means that you could play with currently unobtainable weapons that you may have missed or dismantled or never really used because of older metas snuffing out other choices. As far as subclasses I'm not sure what to do. Supers are part of the game but there's also good arguments for disabling them in this kind of game mode. Special/heavy ammo should be adjusted depending on the game mode. The higher your rank the better your endgame rewards. If you perform below a certain level not only will your rank drop but you will also not receive significant rewards. You won't see someone with a .4 get a legendary weapon drop in this playlist. Past a certain rank your chance of getting nothing at all drops to zero. Quitting games results in an immediate loss of rank. Certain error codes DC's will be forgiven on the first instance. Hitting certain milestones will give ships/shaders/emblems. Perhaps there may be some kind of mechanism to keep one of the weapons from a given week? Could potentially be breaking but would allow a way to get some year two versions of year one gear. Let me know what you think. Up vote for greater presence, comment to keep the thread afloat. Thanks.
