Preface: I'm not terrible. I can get 4-5 sniper kills in a match. So go ahead and yell your git gud skrub and so on.
I'm not one to call for nerfs, but the number of 1kys we see in Crucible is too damn high. This goes directly against what Bungie says they believe in. No one weapon is supposed to be the go-to, right? Bungie has this themselves. In the past Bungie has nerfed a weapon if "too many" people are using them. Why have they ignored it? Yes, the counter is to snipe back or scout but some of the 1kys have unflinching as a perk and there's no countering that. Yes, my Titan has 1kys, and I'll tell you what...it's a helluva lot easier to use than my Stillpiercer.
Bottom line is 8/10 I get sniped it's a 1kys. I think it's just unacceptable, considering Bungies ideology, that I can predict what sniper just rekt me with frightening accuracy.

If they add more high impact snipers with similar aa (1yard has the 5th highest aa of y2 snipers) you'd see less. Especially if they weren't hard to get. Or if bungie got off their non-sniper secondary crusade not everyone would snipe. They've ran the numbers, the 1000yard is fine. It's the other weapons that are the issue.

If they added a Year 2 Efrideet's/LDR/Longbow/Supremacy/Benevolence than the number of Stares would significantly decrease. Just because we have ONE legendary sniper that can res-snipe that has familiar scopes. (Shortgaze, Longview, Ambush, TacSys, etc.) doesn't make 1Kstare op, it makes it overused. Omolon scopes feel different to most, Black Spindle takes an exotic slot, Stillpiercer is Hunter exclusive.
Longbow > All
1 ReplyPeople that complain about someone hitting you in the head with a long range GIANT red glare staring you down baffles me beyond belief....
-
1 ReplyI've never understood why people would prefer 1k to 1000. On a qwerty keyboard the number are literally right next to each other.
-
1 ReplyThey nerf things that are being used by too many people and throwing off the KD spread data in the sandbox. The 1K Stare doesn't displace the data, because so many bad players have one as well. It balances out to a flat 1KD, so no need to nerf, in their opinion. Sorry.

I like shortgaze...therefore I like 1000yd.

I agree that it's way overused, the bad thing is bungie will likely nerf snipers across the board because of the overuse of one specific sniper that is, on paper anyway, less than stellar. So when you step back and let go of the anger at being killed by the same gun over and over, what can you do that makes sense and doesn't piss everyone off? Bungie will likely subtract something, in my opinion they should do the opposite, add more high impact snipers to choose from. However, it's too late for something like that so we're pretty much screwed either way.

1 ReplyWhat is a 1kys A 1 kill yourself?

The biggest problem is nothing competes with it. In year one we had quite a few sniper rifles that played well

5 Repliesit's good and that's why people use it, I use it myself don't get me wrong. where bungie messed up is making it available early on, and making only like 5 or less high impact snipers. you think they wouldn't make a similar mistake after gjallarhorn..
