Bungie - Your concept on sniping is terrible

Y1 player here. Been through all the iterations and tweaks and updates. All through everything sniping hasn't changed much however the changes in all the other weapons has made sniping much more prevalent. As much as people use the word [b]camping[/b] in a negative context, camping is a primary component in a successful sniper. The essence of sniping is patience, timing, and quick trigger. It is not a twitch, thumb, or a run and gun class. Yet both those play-styles represent what you can do in game and I feel that it's taking away from other weapon types. Something that you guys are very sensitive to yet sniping has not changed. I've posted this in a couple other threads but though I'd make my own. I feel the Main problems with snipers is you are able to be just as accurate while moving as when you're standing still. Sniping is supposed to be a "Take your time, acquire target, precision kill. Precision implies refinement and patience not run and gun. There should be a huge penalty to accuracy during any movement. The largest while running. This will limit quick scoping and hip firing. In ADS if you move (aiming) at all there should be a minor accuracy penalty. This will limit drag shooting. (More if you're ground moving) Add to that that when you go into ADS there should be a minuscule delay to reach max accuracy. This will force the playstyle to be less run and gun and more patience "setup target" driven leaving the run and gun style to the other weapons where it belongs. I definitely see that different people have different ideas on what sniping should be however I think we can all agree that it's primary goal is long range suppression and take-down. I also get that this thread may come off as a purist or realist mentality however I'm just trying to tighten up the integrity of the sniping class as well as to leave run and gun to the other weapons. Update: thanks all for the replies. It seems that the current play style is favored and that's ok. However I feel with that we will never hear the end of complaints against sniping. It overlaps too much into other weapon range and playstyle. To each his own then. 1/10 Update: Also Posted in thread. Several times by 2 players in a round they were able to get head-shots off while I was Hand Cannoning them in the face. This was at medium to semi-close ranges.       It seems you want sniping to behave much more realistically like they would in a military sim. The question is in a game like Destiny where there are Guardians flying through the air, blinking around, and throwing supers at you would having to stand super still and line up shots without moving be viable? Would it be fun?

            • I say add more flinch when getting shot at. every other weapon in the game flinches when taking damage but when you are zoomed in on snipers (1k stare) the weapon barely moved when taking fire.

                  The two mechanics you are asking for are already in the game I should mention that both mechanics could be made more pronounced though

                • Sniping is out of hand with this new meta. They need to change the range or something. Even up close people are body shot slapping people. I say remove the short range scopes and make sniping long range as it's intended for......

                • Honestly the best sniping post I've read. I think your suggestions would force snipers into their intended role, which may not work on destiny for various reasons. I absolutely agree that they need tweaking. I would like to see snipers pulled out of scope when hit. A tiny black-screen delay from non-scope to ads would be more realistic but not overkill. A serious decrease in accuracy and aim assist when not ads.

                  • Lol did you watch the YouTube vid of crucible radio where they were talking about weapon balance with the sandbox guys? As they talked, the guy playing kept doing the cheap ass swipe sniping that's made possible by aim assist.

Last night in trials I was putting 2-3 head shots with high impact scout rounds into a sniper's head, only to still get head shotted across the map. This should be rare. Otherwise what is the point of any primary except to stop a shotgunner (last word) or to finish off a body shot sniper hit (mida or last word). Primaries effectively become pointless if a sniper has every advantage and no disadvantages or minimal penalty to taking fire

                        • Halo, a game with longer kill times than Destiny, gives you a perfect-accuracy reticle on snipers so you can feasibly pull of no-scopes if you know what you're doing. Cry more.

                            OMG sniping is retarded. No flinch. No sway while full on strafing. I get headshit by a dude who comes out of cover in an instant while moving. Unbelievable. This game has been ruined since ttk came out. Signing off.
