Many people think removing aim assist from snipers is what we should do, but I disagree completely. Snipers have had the same amount of aim assist since day one, and there's been snipers with a higher aim assist than 1000-Yard Stare. Aim assist has never been the problem.
What the actual problem is, is that they're so fast to equip, so quick to handle, and so easy to move around with compared to shotguns after the December update. So, my solution - do the same thing they did with shotguns to snipers. Snipers are larger and heavier than an average shotgun. Snipers should, without a doubt, have a slower stow time, slowing equipping time, slower handling time, and slowing ads time.
I mean, it only makes sense now that shotguns are slower to use, right? I'm seeing more people aggressively make pushes with snipers than shotgunners. It's honestly not hard to shoot somebody once with a Hand Cannon and finish them off with a quick scope to the body.
I'm sure (at least I hope) we can all agree, because like I said it only makes sense we should do this after seeing what shotguns went through. Hell, do the same thing for fusion rifles. If it's such a "Special" weapon, make it feel that way when you equip it and have it equipped.
So, my final proposal - my unofficial patch notes for snipers...
Snipers
• Slower stowing time across all snipers (does not affect quickdraw nor single point sling)
• Slower movement speed while equipped with a sniper across all snipers (does not affect sprint and slide)
• Slower ADS time across all snipers and scopes (does not affect snapshot)
• Slower handling time across all snipers
It'd only benefit us all, as well as add more balance to the game (post December patch) and more peace to the forums. I would love to see Cozmo or DeeJ see this post, so a supportive bump would be great!

The real problem is that headshot hit boxes are the size of a small car. They're so incredibly large. Makes the job of a sniper much easier, especially when combined with lag and then high aim assistance as compared to other FPS's

2 Repliesreduce shotgun wielding players agility so much that they CANNOT constantly press with shottys as well then...
-
3 RepliesNo, just decrease the drop rate of special ammo. All special weapons, with the exception of sidearms, are one hit kill weapons if used effectively. There is no reason to have ammo spawn for one hit kill weapons so frequently that most players can get the majority of their kills using said weapons.

2 RepliesRemove the perk that allows you to scope in quickly and add at least some flinch as there appears to be pretty much no flinch at all at the moment.
-
This is a smart idea. It's a shame people would rather have a meta than a balanced game. :/
-
1 ReplyHere's the solution why don't you pick up a sniper and try to learn how to use it. they are not going to change the game to suit your little needy heart.

2 RepliesMuted for idiocy

4 RepliesAdd sway when ads and this would be perfect. +1

2 RepliesBuff fusion rifles and make them awesome again. That is all.
-
Or bring back Thorn as year one since that's the reason ppl didn't use a sniper b4
-
11 RepliesI've been saying the best way to fix snipers is to get rid of close and mid range scopes. No one uses long range scopes for a reason: it's much harder to get head shots at 25m with them. Get rid of the lower zoom scopes and the meta will change.

Easiest option is reducing the number of special ammo boxes around the map, and makes them spawn even less frequently. I don't have an issue with sniper rifles in power disabled modes. The biggest issue I have with them is Trials, because trials is essentially matches of special weapons. Either shotguns or sniper rifles are used, and people rarely rely on their primary gun at this point. If they reduce the ammo spawns, that might force people to actually shoot someone with a primary weapon.

Bring other specials into a relevant place. /solved

1 ReplyThat's the problem. Everyone has some form of QuickDraw/ snapshot/ injection mold (decreases range for more stability and faster handling. Everyone who doesn't have those perks are hard scoping around corners.

2 RepliesThey are not going to change sniper rifles
-
2 RepliesYeah...... no.

12 RepliesHow about we stop nerfing and look at the causation of the current meta and then undo what got it here? Nerf fusion rifles because they compete with close and midrange primaries. Nerf close range primaries because everyone uses them on predominantly close range maps. Nerf shotguns because there is nothing left to deter them. Nerf pulse rifles because they beat out other primaries at close and midrange. So now, in general, fusions, autos, and hand cannons are not viable. There is still nothing close range to compete with shotguns despite the nerfs and scout rifles in most areas of most maps are not effective enough, which means there is nothing to contend with in sniping lanes except other snipers. This leaves either a shotgun or sniper load out accompanied by a high ROF pulse or TLW with a few scout rifles, autos or other hand cannons in between.

Do this.

Snipers are fine as-is. They're no different then they've always been. People have just finally started moving away from shotguns after all the recent nerfs. It's pretty easy to avoid getting sniped. Just don't blindly run out into a sniper lane. If you have to get through one make sure to utilize your movement skills by jumping or sliding or using some sort of evade like shadestep and Twilight Garrison. Even the best snipers are going to have trouble hitting you if you do this. A lot of players just play stupidly and then want to blame what killed them. Frontier is a great example. It's ridiculous how many dumbass teamates will keep running right down the middle of the bridge despite knowing the enemy team has snipers watching it. Seriously... why the -blam!- would you keep respawning and then immediately try running through the sniper gauntlet of that map without even attempting to use evasive maneuvers? Playing stupidly does not mean whatever is killing you is OP.

6 RepliesI say reduce accuracy from close to mid range

1 ReplyBump, i've seen a lot of complaints about snipers recently. This is one of the best post balance wise I've seen yet nice job.

I dont understand why snipers need a nerf if it has been never buff. All the things you are saying you could do them on year one. Shotguns are still good. I dont use them but last time i did i kill 15+ and did not even have to aim i was just running around the map, sliding and shotting people.Snipers are just hardscoping but thats fine there is a lot of ways to get to them and kill them. I even took " the chosen" from my vault to see if the aa was really why i was getting 10+ kills, well i was doing the same with a fwc sniper bcs people with shotgun just run to you without trying to use their primary weapon. Snipers and shotguns do what they suppost to do, the problem is that you can start the game with 12-14 rounds of special. The other thing is that people want to outgun snipers but this is not thorn, red death meta anymore and the primaries are not that good anymore so most of the time they get the second bodyshot before they kill the sniper.

2 RepliesReduce special ammo. Problem solved.
-
1 ReplyThose snipers arent 50 cal snipers..
-
1 ReplyWell, let me tell you this. Typical 1000 Yard Stare. Without the Perks that make you equip it faster and aim down the sights faster, it is surprisingly slow for ready up time and ads time. I use Snapshot on mine, and readying the weapon does take a while. I competely agree with you, and i am a sniper at heart. bump.

1 ReplySnipers have always been the same and should stay the same but special ammo for shotguns and snipers is a problem
