Many people who play as Hunters, who couldn't play against Sunbreaker, were crying out for it to be nerfed. Now, it is that of an armored Golden Gun.
Many of these Hunters also think that Shadestep from Graviton should be granted to all subclasses. However, if we look at the description...
Unlocks the Nightstalker Subclass Shadestep node for free.
While it says "grants Shadestep", in the fine print of the description, it claims to unlock it, meaning that it only grants it for that class.
Now, moving on.
These players who run Hunters are claiming that Khepri's Sting is an example of why Shadestep should be given to all classes when Graviton is worn. Khepri's Sting is an exotic Hunter Gauntlet that grants invisibility. They are claiming that crouching in place is a perk from Bladedancer given to all classes.
This is true. However, its exotic perk is Touch of Venom, not Stalker, which I believe is the name of the perk in Bladedancer's tree.
Touch of Venom also grants Backstab, in a way. However, this is defined by its own exotic perk. In no way does it say "Grants Stalker" or something similar.
Now, moving on to Titans, their PvP history, and the fabled Twilight Garrison.
Players who run Titans have been hit hard from their liable PvP subclass, the Sunbreaker, being nerfed. Now I'm going to try to keep this as logical as possible.
The Sunbreaker was only slightly overpowered, and it was largely due to its immense explosions the hammers created.
The explosions allowed HoS to not require hitting a target to kill them. Even with the higher damage reduction they had, HoS was not impossible to kill if handled correctly.
Now let's move on.
Striker has been given a very nice PvP makeover with the return of Armamentarium, which is so goddamn hard to spell, what the hell?
They have also been given the ability to run full armor with the additional +1 armor granted by Unstoppable, and Shoulder Charge, which I believe now works in the air, is made slightly more deadly.
As if it wasn't already deadly.
Next, the fabled TG, and why it is not OP, and why it grants its exotic perk to all Titan subclasses.
I will start by saying that the Twilight Garrison's description only claims to
Press O,O or B,B to evade.
Does this say "Unlocks Evade" for Titans? I think not. It is an ability, not a perk from the perk tree.
Which, by the way, isn't given to Titans in the first place.
Finally, the Twilight Garrison, though not thought of by many...is not overpowered. The reason for this is because those videos you see of Titans running it and doing amazing with it?
How many do you see doing that in the actual game?
I'm not saying it's fake; I think these players are incredible for mastering the Tactical Air Support perk. However, my main point is that it takes a lot of skill to master this chest.
If you don't agree with that, then how about this: not everyone can be as good as those players mentioned.
Lastly, the TG is ugly as hell, so that's the ultimate reason why it's not overpowered.
I've said my fill. Away with you, Guardians...
Edit: It was also brought to my attention that the Air Evasion isn't given an "invulnerability" frame, for lack of a better word. You can still hit an evading Titan if you track their movement.
Blink and Shadestep are slightly harder to kill during their frames.
Edit 2: dragonhunter, the original owner of the Twilight Garrison, arrived.
Edit 3: So...this topic is getting popular. Must be a big debate.
Edit 4: The fake Butthurt is here...?
Edit 5: In Y1, I always thought Shoulder Charge had a shorter duration in the air than it does now.
I never used it that much, so I suppose my word isn't credible on that. Apologies, Guardians.
Edit 6: Shit...the Pig is here! Ninja vanish!
Edit 7: That one laser guy came.
Edit 8: The creator of the 12/14 to 12/18 MotW arrived.
Edit 9: The Traveler itself arrived.

1 ReplyHeadshoted a TG titan in the crucible recently. OP? Nah. My only complaint with the TG is that I haven't found one!!
-
6 RepliesOkay first off this thread while well thought out is only a thread trying not to get something that is a bit OP to not be nerfed. Sunbreaker was way OP, extreme armor bonus while in HoS, 0 cooldown on hp regen from kills, maxed speed, super tracking and blast area, made sunbreakers next to impossible to kill unless you got lucky. TG has 0 cooldown for the evade so it can be used repeatedly without any form of delay between activations. No other evade type move can be used like that, shade step has a cool down that prevents it from being spammed the way titans can do it. That is what makes it OP and needs to be worked on. If you want to talk about balance, giving 1 evade type move a cooldown, but not another is no where near balanced. Oh by the way, just because it's ugly doesn't mean it's not OP lol.

3 Repliesall good points, but i would like to clarify that providing backstab on Khepri's sting is technically providing a hunter perk, which in the blade dancer melee tree is, well, backstab. Also the twilight garrison from what ive seen in videos has nearly infinite seemng dodges in a row (lloked like someone evaded five times while in the air), while shadestep only gains two and then there is a cooldown. so i woudnt say nerf twilight garrison, but add a cooldown for sure. alsothere needs to be Y2 Khepri's sting, because i miss killing striker titans mid strike with a backstab
-
2 RepliesI don't get why hunters want shade step on all classes, it's clearly a void ability.
-
5 RepliesSounds like OP is a salty Titan.
-
1 ReplyShoulder charge has always been able to work in the air...
-
9 RepliesEdited by ubn: 12/18/2015 6:59:25 PMWarlocks and hunter have had benefits for more then a year. Better supers and better evasion. Titans had no blink, no health regen super, no self res. Now they get some stuff to level the field and you whiners creep out of your holes instantly. Sincerely, one who main all 3 - -blam!- off.

Edited by Impulse77: 12/18/2015 7:10:44 PMNot sure why people are bitching. It's blatantly obvious that the chest piece for the titan SHOULD work for every sub class because the evade ability does not come on any skill tree available on the titan. Meanwhile, shadestep is on the nightstalker specifically, so for it to work on the other sub classes would make no sense at all. No titan sub class has evade as an ability. Nightstalker DOES. Before everyone gets onto me, I main a Hunter. Also, it really bothers me when people like OP say "when hunters do this, when hunters do that" in reference to people who main hunters crying about stuff all the time, when OP and other salty titans did/do the same exact thing. You're making yourself look real good right now. *Borat voice* NOT!
-
Yeah listen to this guy he must be one of the Destiny dev's lol
-
1 ReplyHaven't seen one Hunter complain about TG, only Warlocks who have no idea what blink is complain about why they don't have an evasive maneuver.
-
31 RepliesAll that has to change is the perk is limited to a specific sub. Like every other evade.. simple. U still get to use it.
-
This.
-
Yeah it's bloody ugly
-
Dude why use graviton when you Bones of eao right? ..... Right?
-
3 RepliesI guess if shadestep should be granted to all classes so should The Ram's life steal
-
2 RepliesEdited by incondite: 12/18/2015 8:44:13 PM
Lastly, the TG is ugly as hell, so that's the ultimate reason why it's not overpowered.
Although as a hunter I agree that it's fair for titans to have a such said ability. Your last reason made me laugh.
-
3 RepliesI don't think the argument has to do with the wording, we can all read the armor description if we can read your post. It's more an argument in terms of what the armor "should" do, not in terms of what it "says" it does.
-
I got the garrison two days ago and its awsome, love being able to dodge away or toward people
-
Are people actually arguing over this?
-
2 RepliesAs a hunter i don't care about the titans evade, but maybe they can make shadowstep distance a little farther?
-
5 RepliesTL DR; hunter main and already agree Twilight Garrison is fine, just a minor annoyance at best. But the more important question is to you The Exo Stranger, ..is it really that firm/perky ..behind that armor i mean?
-
Gosh complaining about how's it hard to spell words...must be a hunter
I main a hunter

lol

bad b8

idc
-
1 ReplyYou used an entire post to say what we already know. We knew that it said "grants shade step" how is telling us that supposed to be a reason for why it can't be on all of our classes. Come one, just change the name to evade instead of shade step and we are good.
-
1 ReplyYou spent most of this talking about hunters... And incorrectly stated that shade step has any length of invulnerability-- it doesn't. Your only explanation of why TG isn't OP is that it requires skill and it's ugly... Very compelling. Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with TG, but your whole post is fluff.
-
9 RepliesBlade dancer + shade step = OP I main a Hunter, so as a hunter I can say that this would be to much.
-
7 RepliesThe evade isnt even that good, people saw that one video and bugged out, shadestep is every bit as good, blink itself is every bit as good
