Can anyone tell me if I purchase the log book will the rewards be available for all 3 of my characters or do I need to purchase 3 books.

Certain challenges have rewards. 3 of the challenges are for the Momentum Helm (1 challenge per helm, class specific). 1 challenge for the gauntlets (can be worn on every class, but you only get 1 piece and would need to be transferred). 1 challenge for the chest piece (can be worn on every class, same as above). 1 challenge for the boots (can be worn on every class, same as above). 1 challenge for the shader. 1 challenge for the sparrow. The book keeps track of all progress account wide. You can do everything with one character and unlock everything in the book. ...or you can do the bounties with each character to rank up your event standing to earn toolkits and the chance for 320 helms & class items. You can only complete it on one, but you get rewards for all, I believe. What I don't get is why the -blam!- you can't reclaim armor rewards, I deleted my Warlock helmet to make room for other stuff, planning on claiming it again when I unlocked the rest of the set, but you can't. That makes no -blam!-ing sense.

the book is like glimmer shared between all 3. once the book is complete on 1 it's complete on all 3

no it looks like you can only complete it on one character. pretty annoying since one of my rewards was a warlock momentum helmet and it does not seem like I can complete the book on anyone else but my hunter...
