Everyone is saying it was game breaking and it was good to nerf it.
It was never used as a heavy in PVP only idiots used it. And in PVE it was the fun Boss killer that helped in making the grind m ore fun and endurable. Gally was the best balanced weapon of all times! It allowed you to enjoy your Bosskills. Who really cares if it too now 3 minutes less to kill a bullet sponge!? Now without it, it is just senseless time wasting shooting bullets.
No one should agree to this nerf... anyhow it is over now and you have to spend more time on stupid bosses.

Game breaking? Nah, nothing tbh. The real problem with the mystical heavy was that it, much like ToM these days, creates an elitest attitude among the community. People thst had it believed they were better than everyone without it. It's not the weapons fault. You can blame this community for its shunned state right now. Also, as some people mentioned, when you raided, your load out would be thusly (in most cases) fatebringer/vision of confluence, blackhammer/icebreaker, and ghorn/hunger of crota. No weapon variety dulled the game.

2 RepliesThe difference being most year 1 players who had galley never used a different heavy in any pve activity. I know once I got one I did. Sure, it was fun. But malice on the other hand, is only used in the two encounters it's called for. People love to bitch and moan about crutches and cheeses. But the underlying principle of any game for players is the quickest line from a to b. Some players of this game become narrow minded to the idea of using different methods and achieving the same goal. Hence the no knight strat elitism or six vs two orb strat for challenge mode last week.

Im just waiting for a Scorpion Launcher now.

Edited by Ne0nK0ala: 12/15/2015 9:29:04 PMIt was the answer to every single boss, there was no other gun you needed or should have equipped. I agree with the nerf, and it doesn't matter if I do, ghorn is never coming back, at least not in its old form.

Why use another Rocket Launcher when you could use Gjallarhorn in conjuction with amazing Legendary Primaries and Specials?
-
Hmm my year 1 experience was ... What do you mean gally isn't a primary? And yes I was guilty too.
-
Oh yes the days I was 305 oh good times good times indeed

3 RepliesPeople are stupid

Aren't you a little tardy to the party?

6 RepliesEdited by The Albraskan: 12/15/2015 6:27:08 PMIt got nerfed because it was the quickest boss killer. And Bungievision didn't like they're bullet sponge bosses being taken out so fast. So instead of making Xur show up with Gally more often (he only sold it once before they announced it would be nerfed) or making it's drop rate less rare, they just nerfed it. The only people who thought this was a good thing were people who didn't have it, which they all bought it as soon as Xur sold it again anyway. And the week after Bungievision nerfed it. So like everything else that gets nerfed in this game, it's ultimately the community's fault.

5 RepliesCan you imagine Kings Fall Raid with 6 Gallys? It would be a cakewalk even more so. I'm pretty sure with Gally out of the picture, they don't have to design around that weapon.
-
Arguably the most perfect and beautiful gun Destiny built. The mechanics, the sound.....well you know.
-
Nothing. Bungie wants our weapons to suck. They want it to have to take an entire clip to kill enemies and majors now take like 4 rockets. Everyone had it and it was fun. Bungie sucks
-
It made PvE more of a joke then it already is m8.. Still a fun gun tho
-
The problem was the idiots who required it on LFG

3 RepliesHere's the numbers. Gjallarhorn was hitting for around 2400 on initial impact. Plus 15 wolf packs for 756 each. Multiply that by 6. So a full fireteam would hit for 14400 on the initial impact. Plus an additional 68000 with the full compliment of wolf pack rounds. That's each rocket. Now multiply those damage numbers by 7 (max rockets) For a grand total of: 576800 damage.

1 ReplyNothing was. It was just a really fun weapon to use. Most the fun things get removed in this game. I still have my fingers crossed it will be rereleased
-
It wasn't 3 minutes less, it was less than three minutes.
-
There was no loot table back then. So its easy for an "exotic" to actually stand out as an "exotic"...
-
It was never an issue with breaking the game. The issue was that a lot of people REQUIRED that you had one if you wanted to join a Raid or even a really tough Nightfall.
-
6 RepliesIf you didn't use it in PVP, you probably don't have it. That thing murdered in PVP.
-
You do realize that something can be considered OP if you're considered "good" if you have one. It could be considered OP if literally everyone used it on every boss.
-
3 RepliesI bet ur a noob.
-
3 RepliesLook back at lfg from year one You couldn't join unless you were lucky to get a Gjallarhorn At least now with ToM you can do a quest to get it
-
2 RepliesCuz u could just avoid the mechanix of certain fights and in pvp it was good. Tracking hidden prox and tracking wolfpack rounds
-
1 ReplyMostly because almost no one had one lol
