HoW in my opinion had and pretty good progression system. Just needed to tone down the amount one could earn Etheric Light. I took nearly a two month hiatus in Destiny from mid June to the first week of August. From August to TTKs release I was as well off as the guys who ran all of their PoEs and Flawless Trials runs continuously in that time I took a break from Destiny, and that was without playing Level 35 Skolas and Trials upon my return to the TTK. I still managed to get all VoG and Crotas End gear to 365 as well as many other weapons and armor I accumulated during my first year in Destiny. I also had enough Etheric Light to ascend newly acquired VoG/Crota armor if they had better Stat rolls than the ones I already acquired.

And also the infusion is just a terrible idea...
-
I personally like this one becuase it adds variation to armor instead of the old one being everybody using the same stuff and the only way you could get that stuff was by doing raids.
-
I miss it

It was better because the level of the drops was fixed not random, less grind to level up. Bungie only added this new system to keep people playing longer.
-
Yes I'm not a big fan of the new system, they said they wanted people to have a more direct path and less dependence on RNG but it's quite the opposite.
-
Yes and No. I find attack actually means something now. Before a 300 wasn't much worse than a 331.

Edited by Altus Spera: 12/14/2015 10:41:46 PMI definitely preferred the old drop system from crotas end
-
1 ReplyYes this new system is all about adding layers and layers and layers of grinding to the game. Nothing more.
-
I hate that Bungie said they were getting rid of the old leveling system to go to an experience based system so that they could sell DLC to all the people that quit the game because they hated light leveling only to have you be done with experience based system within 3 or 4 hours and then be right back to light leveling.
-
Edited by KingSlayerKat: 12/14/2015 10:36:08 PMIt's pretty much the same really... except class items didn't count towards light level, I liked it better like that. XP based leveling is basically just a way to unlock content. Ghosts and Class Armor really shouldn't counts towards light level... I don't mind Raids dropping random defense levels, gives me more reason to continuously do them, but infusing needs to be tweaked so you can use things of much higher level than you can now, having to go through 5 infusions to get something 10 levels higher sucks.
-
Waaaay more layers of RNG all around.
-
I agree the new light system sucks. I hate how class items have light. What's next? Shaders?
-
2 RepliesI didn't like the new system much, but I'll say I'm digging it now, I can use the gear I want and still be high level, vs. looking like everyone else.
-
They should've made it where you drop 320 gear on exotics after reaching 310. After you hit 310 it's like a waiting game
-
It's not too bad as you can make progress even without geting that one drop you need. My warlock was forever 31until how because the damn Crota boot s never droped while my titan had many drop. Infusion would if fixed that fast.
-
Bungie: "We heard you guys loved RNG in Year One, so we decided to give you RNG with your RNG in Year Two!!!"
-
2 RepliesI just want dedicated 310 drops from normal, and 320 from hard.

Edited by chickengoujohn93: 12/14/2015 10:44:48 PMYes. With the older system, you got the piece of gear and leveled it up with materials. No ifs no buts. New system is horrendous. Just say one week you got a 303 Chest Piece with the favored Int/Dis role. You spend the next 3-4 weeks hounding the Raid on reset to get that better Chest piece... Lets say you got 315 with Strength (yuck). Over the past 3-4 weeks of breaking your backside in a Raid, you unlocked all perks on the 303 Chest Piece. You have two rather equally shitty options... 1) Infuse the 315 into the 303 and come out with a something crazy like 309!!! 2) Equip the 315 and spend another week leveling up the same piece of armor because there is no Radiant Light, Vanguard/Crucible Bounty Rep was reduced (capped at 3000XP instead of 5000XP) and pump another boat load of Glimmer, materials and Legendary Marks to purchase some materials to re-unlock the same perks. Also, what really bugged me was the fact that Exotics weren't at least 310 from the get go... They are supposed to be the best pieces of gear in the game and should take minimal effort to upgrade. The fact that you have to level them up from 280 or hope that RNG praises you with a 310 once you surpass 300 Character Light, bringing two levels of RNG (RNG it takes for the particular item to drop, then the RNG to determine whether it drops at 290 or 310) is somewhat of a nuisance, especially if you owned them in Y1!!!! Sure it was the whole reason why Exotics got an overhaul before TDB came out, if you cast your minds back that far. They removed the need for Ascendant Materials in the final three nodes, giving you two free nodes by default free from a special/exclusive material requirement until the final node which required an Exotic Shard, of which weren't hard to come by... Now you can get blues that have higher Light that Exotics. Oh, you like The Heart of Praxic Fire eh (for example)? Well too bad, you're going to have to pray to RNGesus all over again in hope that it drops at 310 Light Level, or purchase the 280 kiosk version using Legendary Marks, play countless Raids in hope of better Chest piece, infuse multiple Chest pieces into it to finally get it to a respectable Light Level using Legendary Marks and a shit load of materials, then use more materials to unlock the perk nodes, whilst also possibly requiring Legendary Marks to buy the required materials to ascend the item of question and upgrade said perk nodes.

Well its faster to lvl up on the old 1. On the new thers too much grinding
-
You don't realize that this is still the same system as the old one, it's just dressed up differently.
-
The levelling up in year one was very simple, and everyone had an equal chance of success. Same level weapons and armour and it was very simple and easy
-
I do I miss my ps4 year one characters.

Meeeee

6 RepliesI think the system is totally fine. The drops (more specific the double RNG) are the problem.
