Me and my family have always played halo together and now I guess it is only one player. Can you guys tell me why that is? Is it because of Bungie left or something or what?

Ya they ruined my farther and Is tradition of beating every halo on legendary when it is released

1 ReplyMy cousin is never around anymore and my life schedule never allows for co OP play. Sucks for you but if it improves single player experience then it's fine by me
-
22 RepliesIt's designed that way deliberately in an obvious attempt to sell more copies of the game, and more Xbox One consoles.

Mostly because it's hard to get a game to function on that level at 60 FPS. That, and split screen opens up a large set of bugs and development time.
-
To be honest I would prefer 30 fps campaign split screen over just no split screen to keep 60 fps
-
because they wanted to screw over the machinima content creators i guess.
-
The physics is connected to the fps which is 60 if you put it split the framerate drop messing with physics. Its impressive they got it to run at 60 fps. And they said they are gonna work on split screen for the next installment
-
It's sad because consoles were made for split screen games.

10 RepliesHalo 5 has the biggest and most detailed campaign in halo history. Trying to get all of that and stick with 60 fps during split screen just wasn't possible. Worth the sacrifice IMO.
-
2 RepliesThey wanted it to look pretty and have 60 frames per second. Not worth it

10 RepliesEdited by MrSHORTSTACK: 12/13/2015 2:34:28 AMThe president of halo, or whatever, and I shit you not, said "times have changed" pretty much a slap in all Halo fans faces. But it will be back in #6, I'm betting on it! They said they wanted to make the campaign as best as possible like the others were garage or something. Doing co op on split screen would effect the gameplay.

8 RepliesSplit screen isn't easy to do. It's tolling on the consoles. You have to cut everything back... For example, Battlefront in split screen cuts the framerate in half.
-
It's because they couldn't run the game at the 60 fps they wanted split screen. Historically devs had just reduced fps, graphical effects, resolution and number of assets to allow split screen coop, but they decided this time to (almost) lock the engine to 60 frames by putting in place a resolution scaler. The destruction of visual detail, especially over any type of distance, would have rendered the game unplayable in split screen. Bottom line is they didn't prioritise split screen at all.
-
Couldn't get it to run well enough with split screen. Disappointing but fair enough.

Bad b8 m8.

You know I would tell, but this has been told and discussed so many times. That I hate repeating myself
Google buddy GOOGLE
They chose 60 fps over split screen
