Apparently people don't know what pay to win means

It does not perfectly translate to money gives you an instant victory. It is a term used for gaining an advantage from spending real money in-game. While you are not guaranteed victories by purchasing the eververse gear, it bypasses the rng that non purchasers have to deal with. Just a fun explanation for all of you. Footnote: couldn't give a shit about people winning or losing sparrow races because I think they're dumb, I just want people to know what pay to win actually means to reduce "out of ass" talking.

  • This forum is just full of kids that like to get involved with the mob mentality and throw around controversial buzzwords to fit in. "Derr... BUNGIE... er... PAY TO WIN!... er... LIED!... er... SHEEP!"

  • by the time i finally completed some of those challenges, i already had legendary gear from holliday's quests half leveled with the same perks the Momentum gear offers, so i just stuck with those since they were already in progress. i wouldn't say the book has given me any advantages over what the game itself has offered.

  • Except that you don't get any advantage from buying the Sparrows or Record book. What's pay to win is the Swiftriver is actually the best Sparrow.
Thanks Webster
• Well, then Halo 5 (by your logic) would also be pay to win. But that's not my problem

        • If tess sold gear at 320 exclusively at her stand, and only with silver, that would be pay to win. Tess selling a book we can all buy that has rng based loot that CAN drop at 320, and sparrows that have same speed as a raid or bonus sparrow is not pay to win.

          • Pay to win would be Tess selling 320 gear. If you can buy endgame gear, you wouldn't have to play any endgame content, therefore you would have "won." The only thing you can buy from Tess is sparrows and horns. The book offers a second basic gear set for racing, you can also earn a set from completing the license quests or simply buying the gear with legendary marks. Regardless of buying anything from Tess or not, you get 320 gear by racing, racing and more racing until you hit rank 3. Then race some more! You can't buy that from the silver store. Yes you can buy things you'd normally have to earn in game with silver, but those things are all aesthetic or have minor effects on events. Nothing she sells gives you an advantage in PVP or PVE endgame content.
