Makes sense conceptually. Rezyl and his experience provides a pretty good parallel to the actions of the speaker. Rezyl saw humans fight among themselves over differing beliefs instead of their common enemies. This would make sense for the speaker who is very strict on Toland and Osiris, those who generate differing views that only could lead to internal conflict (as the speaker sees it) instead of fighting the darkness. Very much like Rezyl saw.
