Heart of Steel - Part 1 "Director... We can't allow this. This is outrageous - preposterous! The board will never accept this!" pleaded the head scientist of Cybus industries. But the CEO wouldn't have it. The old man had built the company from the ground, and wouldn't let a board of no-good whiners shut down his project. Cybus industries was the Galactic premier in cybernetic manufacturing. Going from simple implants to complex AI matrices and prothesis. His hovering chair moved forward towards the prototype. His child. His beautiful masterpiece. The next step for humanity. "To hell with the committee. As of right now, I'm in control of all operations. There will be no more discussions of this. "but... But even then, the prime minister will never agree! No right of distribution means no production!" "That can be... Arranged." ---- 7th imperial District, Golden City. ---- All that was needed was a single sector governor. John Lumic, CEO of Cybus industries was running against Mikaël Romanoff for governance of the 7th district then, seeing as the two enterprises were battling for dominance of the sector. Mikaël was strolling through the city, at night. After all, the 7th district was under military lockdown, so it was safe from exterior threats. Exterior. An unfortunate roadblock forced him to take a dark alleyway to get back home on time, and to save time. He never noticed the shadow that was following him. After all, he was safe. Then, only then, did he know. A silvery figure turned a corner right in front of him, a tall and menacing figure. It stared right at him through it's lifeless black optical slots, scanning him. Then, it spoke. With a voice that the city would learn to fear. "Registration: Mikaël Romanoff. You will submit to the Upgrade." In a desperate attempt at saving his life, Mikaël turned around in a dash, attempting to run away. But he was too slow. The machine's powerful hand grappled his arm tightly, making him slip up by his own momentum. A nearly lethal dose of electricity ran through his body, paralyzing him. He would be submitted to the Upgrade. He would be perfected. He would become a Cyberman.
