Pulse Rifle 2.1.0 PvP nerf up to 19% for Low Rate of Fire weapons?

The [url=https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Update---12082015/en/News/News?aid=14094]2.1.0 patch notes[/url] say " [i]Pulse Rifles Reduced base damage Low RoF (The Messenger, Spare Change): [b]9% reduction[/b] from previous base damage[/i] " but the in-game numbers suggest the PvP nerf was bigger, and there seems to have been a separate even bigger nerf for Lyudmila-D. [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Armory/Detail?type=item&item=2050931044&itemname=Super%20Pox%20VLO]Super Pox VLO[/url] Pre 2.1.0: Single bullet to body: 26 Single bullet to head: 38 In 2.1.0 (close-range hits with range 51 rifle): Single bullet to body: 22 i.e. [b]15% reduction[/b] Single bullet to head: 33 i.e. [b]13% reduction[/b] Some of the posts in [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/178816345/0/0]this thread[/url] suggest the nerf affected [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Armory/Detail?type=item&item=263993300&itemname=Spare%20Change.25]Spare Change.25[/url] in the same way, [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Armory/Detail?type=item&item=2790109141&itemname=Lyudmila-D]Lyudmila-D[/url] Pre 2.1.0: Single bullet to body: 21 Single bullet to head: 31 In 2.1.0 (close-range hits with range 53 rifle): Single bullet to body: 17 i.e. [b]19% reduction[/b] Single bullet to head: 25 i.e. [b]19% reduction[/b] Since the Lyudmila-D shoots pulses in bursts of four bullets (thanks Hakke!), the 2.1.0 change is similar to removing one of the bullets. Are the patch notes wrong, or am I missing some other subtlety? Update #1: added range details. Update #2: discussed in a [url=https://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update--12102015/en/News/News?aid=14179] weekly update[/url] and retroactively corrected in the [url=https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Update---12082015/en/News/News?aid=14094]patch notes[/url] (but without any lasting indication that several edits were made to the patch notes after they were first published, and the earlier [url=https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Weapon-Tuning--December-Update/en/News/News?aid=14016]preview[/url] is still inaccurate).

  • If they had dropped the Lyudmila the 9% they were talking about the damage would have gone down to 19 to the body & 28 to the head. So hitting bursts with 2 body shots & 2 head shots would have still 2 bursted with glass half full. So they've purposefully dropped it even further so there's no possibility of 2 bursting. So in trying to make sure no weapons can 2 burst they made this gun unusable since needing 3 to 4 bursts with this slow ROF means you're never going to win a gunfight or you're opponent isn't going to stick around for you to hit that slow 3rd shot! Way to "balance" weapons with blinders on without ever taking the time to consider or test the full extent of what you are doing Bungie! This is the type of inconsistent tweaking (taking a really good weapon down to worthless) that will lead to you losing a bigger portion of your player base than playing with the imbalance that already existed. This constant dramatic change in your "balance" is really annoying and frankly I don't have the time to constantly cycle through all my weapons to see which weapon is actually worth a shit this month, then adapt my playing style to it in order to have fun playing this game!
