It's just Bungie dicking around with old exotics. It's kind of like George Lucas releasing the unedited SW movies because people wanted them and not his crappy new versions but not remastering them in any way, just as a "f-ck you" to the fans.
Well... maybe it's the opposite of that, or... I don't know, whatever, the point is Bungie is trolling players hard with the exotic changes. What they did to Dragons Breath was an insult.

No more pyromancer No more tripod Reduced blast radius Reduced magazine The remote det is cool I guess, but they tore down what truly made this thing a fire breathing beast.

Surly you jest? It lays down a field of fire that has like 2 times the radius of the original Dragons Breath. Not to mention it does way more damage. The ability to lob it over obstacles really makes it unique. It actually FEELS how an Exotic should. Something totally unique and fun to use, not necessarily good, just like a few other exotics. (ie Queens bow)

An entirely new effect to the game that even AIs don't know how to react to it, so they just stay in there. Compared to old DB with solar nade because they register it as a 'nade and avoid it. No Tri-pod? It's fine, they give you extra reserve ammo so you still get the same amount of rockets. They made a used to be trash Rocket into a legit beast in zone controlling.
