Just bought my pre-ordered copy of ODST tonight. Picked it up at 12:22 am and quickly drove it home to play. Already had friends lined up to do 4 player co-op. $60.00 for 3 new multiplayer maps that will be free in another 2 months, and a 5 hour campaign... That doesn't sound good I thought, but then this is Halo and we have all of the previous titles and loved each one. That list includes Halo Wars... Therefore I thought that this one has to be good. Long story short, the 4 of us all agreed that this is a terrible game which is chock full of shortcuts and unpolished hogwash. I plan to take my copy back to the store when it opens for my money back! Bungie - This is not worth $60.00 - not even close. This is a crappy game and that is coming from a Halo-fanboy. You guys lost a customer tonight. I won't buy another one of your titles. I am extremely disappointed by this game.

I'd have to say that personally, it isn't my favorite Halo title. However, saying it sucks is nothing more than an opinion. And like others have said, you get all of the Halo 3 maps (which, by the way, still are not free) as well as Firefight, and a campaign that has quite a different feel to it. (Which is not necessarily bad.)

Halo fanboy? More like halo addict. A true fanboy would recognize the importance of the odst story to the halo universe. The only downside about the story is that they didn't use the engineer "Vergil" in halo 3 or make any other reference to it. Plus, the gameplay itself wasn't bad. I mean, a silenced pistol and zoom able smg? You've got to be a freaking idiot to not appreciate this. I'll admit, when I first played it at a friends house, it was pretty bad. Then I got it myself and was able to understand the story, and core gameplay mechanics. If you quit halo because you couldn't dual-wield anymore, then either suck it up like a man, or go bak to playing halo 2(hehe dual-wield needlers).
Posted by: Ghost 4119 stop...being...annoying...everywhere
Why did you reply to your own post?!? Reminds me of Gollum, the physco character off Lord of the rings who constantly corrects his evil/good inner self. My advise ... listen to your good self.
Posted by: Thundastruck Blame teh MS.
Posted by: TH3_AV3NG3R I agree. It should have stayed a regular expansion pack like in the beginning but it doesn't stop people trying to defend the game, being a obvious cash grab.

I do.
Posted by: SasukeFKay
Posted by: Elegiac I beat the campaign on normal.
I beaten it on Legendary solo ;) Overall, ODST was a great game. Best Halo storyline in my opinion, for the first time... you got to play/witness the other members of the squad in their eyes and Firefight was a good add-on too (which you said nothin about).
Same here! I love the atmosphere in ODST's Firefight, something Reach cannot recreate.

This forum post is 3 years old and still going. Wow.

Sadly, found firefight disappointing. Did like the campaign though. Found the story telling different and characters refreshing ... something reach should have picked up on (rather than trying to be some MC replacement).
Posted by: Decimator Omega This thread is STILL here? O_o
Thought the same ... once reach got released - the king of crap/sucky games - that everything else would shine like new. lol reach. either stick with the MC story, or stick with ODST ... whats with the 'bungie got bored, lets make some new characters'.

This thread is STILL here? O_o

Agree, even though ODST started out as an expansion pack it still ended up having a long list of features ... more than we go with reach for example. Add to that the price point was better, but guess you could put that down to reach beinging over priced and over hyped. The main issue with both games was trying to hook them into the halo brand ... they are more like a spin off series - missing the actual halo ring and MC to start with. Same thing happens with those cheap TV popular shows which then launch an unrelated spinoff series, and then flop.
Posted by: KaneXX12 I like Reach and I'm proud.
So YOUR the one - lol
Posted by: Oh GodLike One
Posted by: KaneXX12 This is a game that Bungie didn't have a long time to make. And it was pretty good.
reach took longer, and turned out far worse. Guess length doesnt always count.
I don't see the big deal about Reach. I like Reach and I'm proud. The only thing I don't like are AA's and poor ally AI.

I do still monitor it. I will also be posting my thoughts about Halo 4 soon. I think this is a great discussion minus all the children on here.
Posted by: Water Beetle It mainly continues because it was recently discovered that Easy1JM stil monitors it. Guys, he's never going to accept our reasons why ODST is good, and we won't accept his reasons for it being bad. Just let this thread die, no good will come out of it.
