What's the grindiest game you've ever played?

I know its kind of silly to ask this on a Destiny forum, but I'm just curious if there are other games with an even bigger grind than Destiny. I know I can think of one. Hands down the grindiest game I've ever played. Pokemon. Yes thats right. If you really think about it that game requires you to grind harder than Destiny. Going against the Pokemon league over and over to get all your mons to level 100. The same five trainers over and over. And filling up the pokedex is also ridiculous. Some mons aren't even available on certain games, you would have to have a friend with the opposite version of you trade you those mons or you would have to buy your own. And getting your mons for competitive battling is even worse. Getting the right nature, egg moves, IVs, then EV training it can take hours of frustration and even requires RNG. Its considered normal in the competitive battling community to import "legit" hacked mons into your game to save yourself hours of training your own. And theres even battle simulators so you don't have to buy these devices to hack your games. Gamefreak plz nerf

    • Try getting an Immortal Reactor (or any plate for that matter) in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Has a 3% chance from a tail carve and 2% for a body carve. Even worse when solo.

Warframe is pretty grindy if you want to avoid paying real-world money, but its a huge game, and the missions are in generated worlds, so you dont get bored easily.

            • Aside from MMOs I'd say Borderlands is pretty damn grindy.

            • I don't know how people think eso is grindy. I never ran out of quests to do and my character is up to vet rank 6 right now. I would say both guild wars 1 and 2 are some of the grindiest games I've ever played. Especially 2 grinding for mats for a legendary but I still enjoyed them.

            • ESO was insanely grindy. My friends and I played it for a week and had only reached level 20 after doing hundreds of fetch quests, which is the only type of quests the game seems to have. We dropped the game after that week haha

The official ragnarok online was grindy as all hell. It was also really fun though because shit was so damn rare in that game and leveling up was also hard AF that you really had to roll with a party. It deffinitley wasn't a game you could solo a map boss on. In private servers with high rates yes, but in the official server it was suicide. I met some awesome people back in the day. Can't say I like that kind of game anymore though. I like rpg action adventure games way more. They're like....the right amount of grindy I'd say. Phantasy star online was also grindy because of the section ID drops. Very fun game for it's time though. The missions were cool, and there were some pretty dope secrets not everyone new in that game. I remember taking a loooong ass time to get this one sealed sword. Then after that you had to kill a shit ton of enemies to unseal it and unlock it's final form. When the grind is done right, a game can still be really good. If it's done wrong, well most people won't stick around long enough to yeild the results.

Personally destiny was the biggest grind for me as it is so repetitive and tedious. Have to keep doing the same boring tasks to get an item you already own instead of the ones you didn't have.

            • The way I used to play Minecraft, my friends and I would build creative level structures in survival, we'd spend hours and hours mining.
