"OH EM GEEZ! SPARROW RACING!!! YOU ARE SO AWESOMEZ BUNGIE!"
Is what we WOULD be saying.
HOWEVER!
The fact remains that you still screwed everyone over. You still sold a $60 INCOMPLETE game a year ago that got butchered and had missing components taken and repackaged to be sold separately as $20 DLC a pop. You did that twice. TWICE. So then it became a $100 incomplete experience because even with both "expansions" as they were advertised, the game was still hollow and felt more like a shell without absolutely any cohesion what-so-ever. It was bare bones.
Then you release TTK which you decided to sell for $40 and everyone is going on about how its such an improvement and that it makes the game complete. Really revving up that hype train for it. But guess what? IT WAS STILL MORE OF THE SAME CUT CONTENT FROM THE BASE GAME!
How... HOW does anyone get away with this crap? You took a $60 game and managed to squeeze another $80 out of it. And don't sit there and tell me that you've been developing new content for it because we already know you announced you had started working on Destiny 2 MONTHS ago. In fact if I recall correctly, it was already entering development around the time the Dark Below was released. I've NEVER seen a game drag out old content so much. Same goes for TTK, that content was in development before the game ever launched, Luke Smith said that himself in an interview.
And now Sparrow Races? First off, let's get this record set straight, it BEGAN with folks being suspicious and accusing you of CUTTING Sparrow Racing from the base game just like you did Player Trading and Gambling. It became all the more obvious to people when you decided to give everyone this thing: https://www.bungie.net/en/Armory/Detail?type=item&item=3703598457&itemname=EV-30%20Tumbler
In fact, GAMBLING was believed to have been a mechanic associated with Sparrow Races. This was before the game even launched, mind you. Its clear that this is just once again another example of cut content being recycled just like you're doing with the Year 1 Exotics. Just something "new" (not really) to toss out there for all the diehard "Dude Bros" to freak out and obsess over. This Hamster Wheel comes with all the bells and whistles.
Second? You screwed it up. Yeah, you really did. Because not only are you likely going to put a great deal of stuff for it in your in-game Cash Shop nonsense (Most likely all the things folks are actually going to want for it), but to my knowledge these races are going to be for TTK owners ONLY.
Its ridiculous. You're all about exclusion, its nothing but aggressive attempts to try and force people to spend their money. But here's the thing, people ALREADY spent their money. You have received MORE than enough for your product and instead of supporting the community and giving back the players, you just keep coming up with more and new ways on how to get as much as possible from the masses. Shame on you. This is NOT what Gaming should be about.
I said it before and I'll say it again. TTK doesn't get a free pass and neither do you. TTK doesn't get a "passing score" for being somewhat better than the shite that you sold throughout Year 1. ANYTHING would be better than that. No, TTK gets measured up against other games like any others. Matched up with Fallout 4, DOES The Taken King compare? Does the value of TTK for $60 equal the value of content that you get for the same price as this?
Trick question, the answer is no, it doesn't.
Destiny being an Online Game doesn't mean jack crap, at all. Destiny having PvP has absolutely no bearing on this comparison, either. We're talking straight up value. The amount of content in Destiny does NOT reflect its $140 price tag.
Dark Below and House of Wolves SHOULD have been free for Vanilla Destiny.
Sparrow Racing SHOULD have been included for everyone, TTK or not.
The Taken King SHOULD have been sold at $30 and the Eververse Trading Company NEVER should have been implemented. Ever.
Gamers aren't stupid, most of us are very smart and have VERY good memories much to the dismay of companies like Activision.
We. Never. Forget.
Its time you start doing something to take responsibility for all this crap.

Edited by ImTooHungover: 12/17/2015 11:30:15 PMBungie might have just shot themselves in the foot for the rest of this year (and possibly next) with that pathetically, overcharged "level booster" microtransaction. This might be the worst amount of BAD publicity Ive seen yet from this game. At this point, its just sad if you still represent Bungivision and their blatant, shit business tactics. For -blam!-s sake, they even said they had no intentions of ever doing such a thing and not only do they do it, but it's to a ridiculous extreme right when they are about to get more new players from this holiday...what level of Hell does 'greed' take you? Because i'm pretty sure Bungivision is going to the deepest, darkest part of that world.
Wouldn't you say this is an opinion, not a universal fact that can be applied to everyone? It's clear that there's MANY who agree with your point of view, but that's hardly universal. There are many who enjoy where Destiny is today. You may disagree with them and be unable to understand how they can enjoy the game as it is, but it's pretty clear based on Twitch streams and YouTube content creators that Destiny has a fanbase. The only way sites like DestinyTracker or PlanetDestiny function are because they provide info and content to players of Destiny. If Destiny weren't worth it then these businesses wouldn't exist.
The amount of content in Destiny does NOT reflect its $140 price tag.
I have a friend who worked at PopCap. Let me tell you that the amount of money people spend on a simple game for their iPhone is ludicrous. The economics that drive game purchases are far far more complex than I can begin to understand. I do, however, realize that there is a marketplace for frivolous individuals who can, and will, shell out money for surprisingly small content, just so long as that content is entertaining. Just look at the "Flappy Bird" craze a few months ago... when the app was pulled from the marketplace you could find an iPhone with Flappy Bird installed for sale, and selling, for $500+... I think it's quite difficult to statically quantify value in today's marketplace, much less apply one individual rule of value to everyone else. It's clear that you're unhappy with the game. It's also clear that hundreds or even thousands of people feel the way you do. Last time I looked at the change.org petition that's been circulated here on the forums it hadn't even made 300 signatures. In the end, there's at least that many people who play Destiny every day and enjoy what it gives them.

3 RepliesMan everyone keeps complaining about this. I am very curious to see how many pre-orders the second game gets. Money is an effective way to voice complaints to companies.

5 RepliesThis has 131 ratings according to my 'puter. But it doesn't show in my "highest rated" category. The highest after the stickied threads is rated 70. Not cool.

Well said, well done, Mal. +1

"Hey look more of year 1 exotics are back, how cool!" You mean the year 1 exotics that should have had year 2 versions the day TTK came out?

1 ReplyFunny thing is when SRL was revealed at PSX the first thing everyone said was "where's the new dlc?!?!?"

Ever since they split the final Harry Potter book into two movies, more and more companies are splitting content for more money as standard business practice. I wouldn't be shocked to see episode IX become two parts.

5 RepliesEdited by Hoops: 12/14/2015 10:30:48 AMI will happily rally to your cause if you send me a video with proof of cut content. Maps and old trailers don't make up the finished dlc product. When I wire a house I often put extra cables in for future circuits so I don't have to do extra work later when the client wants additions. I want to see proof that content such as the prison of elders and kings fall raid were complete prior to launch and cut from the game. Only then will I stop disagreeing with you and support you.

Hope all those friends you recruited to buy and play Destiny are stoked! Now you have the choice of spending 29.99USD for a one-way ticket to level 25! Unless you actually slogged through the ARDUOUSLY LONG story content?! What a schmuck! Who does that any more?!
-
Let's also add the fact they owe us pretty then 1 raid that to this day has never been given to us. So boycott? Let's shut down and be done with this garbage game? Let's not go into how this challenge crap is so glitch filled it's worse then mw2. Seriously time to be done with the codes telling us it's our connection you poor designers.

35 RepliesEdited by cbrstar: 12/7/2015 6:17:05 AM*Sits back with Popcorn* Watches the natural cycle unfold ... Week1: Fanboy: "How DARE you say anything bad about sparrow racing? Do you even TTK Bro?" Week2: Fanboy: "Thank you Bungie!!! Sparrow racing is the funnest thing you ever done" WeeK3: Fanboy: " Why can't I find the "Super Mega Red Bull Sponsorship Drive?" ... I have to WORK, I don't have time to do 200+ races it requires. You should have made it more accessible for us casual players. Week4 Fanboy: "Sparrow racing sucks, it's nothing but a grind!! You can't pull the wool over my eyes anymore Bungie! " Week5: (No more Sp Racing) Fanboy: "You should bring back year two Sparrow Racing, my guns have been nerfed so bad I can't even kill a common dreg anymore!" Week6: Fanboy: Overall I give Sparrow Racing a B+, Bungie actually did a pretty good job, so we should just quit complaining and support them!
