Did my silver purchases pay for content I can't play?
I have never really been bothered all that much by PlayStation exclusives, until now. I have purchased content using silver, and I was told that this would be used to provide cheaper content.
Festival of the lost was fun, and didn't have exclusives. Sparrow racing on the other hand has an exclusive sparrow AND PlayStation is getting a full set of IB armor.
It bothers me that my money is being used for content that I can't access. I was under the apparently bogus assumption that PS exclusives would be announced at each big DLC drop, not released throughout the year, further exacerbating and dividing the community.
Just a disclaimer, I am not mad at PS4 users or anything like that. I am just a little frustrated at bungie for releasing more exclusive content throughout the year.
Tldr- I think my silver purchases were used for content that I can't access.

It's incentive to buy a ps4. This may not be true, but the money that destiny got from Sony could potentially be used to fund the time and efforts to make ps exclusives.

17 Repliesyea, bungie pulled the largest con in gaming history with this silver crap. Blue skull cost some people $100+.. . some wanted it that bad. even though you cant do jack shit with it. You can't even wear it cause it drops your light so much. Wasted effort and money. Hopefully it gets updated one day. I like the dances, I don't mind if I have to spend a little here and there for them.. its a con at the end of the day though. ps4 getting exclusives during something that's not dlc related is another con. What's in sparrow racing should be shared equally across platforms. I am happy and thankful to have something new.. But don't give one player something and take from another cause they choose a certain console to play on. I like destiny a little too much, But I really hope mass effect 4 copies destiny's layout of having raids, fluent action, pvp that is fun and fast paced with dedicated servers. Cause I really want a space adventure that don't make me feel used by the company that is making it. I hope the best for destiny. But I badly want to move on to something similar, but better and rid myself of the corporate bullshit that bungie is.. At the end of the day, I shouldn't have to think about the game company, the makers and certain jerk off employees. At the end of the day I should be thinking about the game and only that.. But not with destiny.

Silver funds events, events like the Halloween mask event. (Which you have access to). You're not getting major DLC out of a nickel and dime system, created solely to grab whatever extra funds they can for small projects.

The worst part about all this is that in the past Xbox users did get the exclusives the next year, with exclusive content during special events, Xbox will never see the content

It's Bungie's business what they do with their money and Sony paid that PS players get exclusives to bring people playing on PS version of Destiny instead of XBOX version to crush SONY's competition.

I don't really care because I got PS3 but it is sly for XBOX users (I hate XBOX anyway) because PS players get like million more weapons and armor and extra strikes and ships and all cool stuff and they only get the normal stuff but as I said before, I don't really care.

2 RepliesI think that was Kotaku article was debunked. I'm pretty sure the PS Exclusive Content is mandated through contractual obligation and can be implented at any time. Doesn't make it right though. I just wish that Sony and Microsoft would combine their efforts to make a unified console so everyone could play together.

1 ReplySONY paid upfront for exclusive content, but honestly there is no way to know if the content PS gets was SUPPOSED to be for everyone and Bungie just shuffled it over to PS or if Bungie did the extra work and designed entirely new stuff for that sweet sweet SONY money. Kinda in limbo as an end Xbox user........but atleast know any timed exclusives on PS we get year 3.

The exclusive content comes from a deal between Sony and Activision. Which is why Call of Duty fans on PS get maps before everybody else.

Just fyi, you as an end user don't pay for exclusivity. The platform owner does (Sony/MS/etc). Your silver purchase just pays for Luke Smith's ego. Everything else (except platform exclusives) is paid for when you buy a licence to play destiny.

I think Sony paid money for exclusive content. Such as a sparrow and IB armour. You paid for SRL. Which you're getting for free. Ps users get one lack luster quest, and another set of armour, big deal.
