Ok this whole exotic shard shortage so is really getting annoying
I think the fact that you have to have an exotic shard every time you infuse a exotic item high is asinine, 3oc gets nerfed, xur no longer sells them, and nightfall, well we wont talk about nightfall.
Ok so i see alot of people commenting saying they have 100+ ( after dismantling y1 stuff), i did as well. I used a few to buy armor and weapons i knew for sure i would use, and then infusing costs shards. Also i wouldnt just take gear and deal with the rolls i got. I would roll them to perks that suited my play. I have all yr2 exotic weapons and gear for titans, and all light level over 315 for all. That stuff adds up. Im just saying they should make shards a little easier to obtain for instance have it to where you can turn in ascendant energy and ascendant shards from the Vault of glass, or even radiant energy and shards in for exotic shards from the speaker.
If u dont have /use all the exotics available to include faction class items, and have them all rank and rerolled to suit ur characters needs, then the shortage doesnt pretain to u. Esp if u dont even play anymore. No one cares u have 300+ cuz u dont use them

There is no shortage. Buy an already owned exotic weapon from the kiosk, heavy preferred. Doesn't cost much, 2500 glimmer (I think) and 1 exotic shard. Buy an appropriate telemetry from the gun smith. Use bounties or motes to power level it. You DO NOT need to actually level up the weapon just unlock the nodes. Dismantle = 2 exotic shards.

Right now I have 10 shards. I'm extremely careful about infusing my exotics though. At the moment, I have a shitpile of 3oC to use (that's about all I buy with my strange coins anymore) and quite a few mid 290 exotics. As I get 310's to drop, I dismantle the lower level gear for the shards. Until today, I am only shy a Titan helmet, Hunter helmet and 4 weapons. I haven't yet looked to see what the new exotics are with the latest update. Some of them I will buy from the kiosk and I'm sure I will have to wait for magic random drops for some others. The 280's I get from the kiosk will be held onto until I get better level drops or enough shards to upgrade the ones I REALLY want to put to use. I do wish xur would sell them... BUT... Once I have completed my exotics collection, I will simply buy whatever he is selling with my strange coins and dismantle them for shards.

Yes but those of us that didn't have many exotics I.E me (I never got a single Crota's end armour or weapon piece to give you an idea of how bad my luck is) don't have any shards to use.

But of course i just got rid of my shards and energy a couple weeks ago lol.

Bro.... I never had a lot of exotic shards and I don't even need any right now. I had like maybe 20 when TTK came out. I have like 5 now. All exotics at 310...... Don't understand what u use them on

2 RepliesThis will not be an issue for most Day 1 players, hence all the feedback you've gotten so far. With that being said there is an issue with the Exotic Shard economy. My buddies just got Destiny with TTK, they currently cannot use anything that didn't drop at 310+ due to not having enough exotic shards. They have enough to upgrade a bit but given that 290 - 310 will take 3-4 infusions they can't make them viable weapons. Same thing applies to the Passage Coin economy. I still have 100+ but my stocks are dwindling every week.

I started TTK with like 63. I think I have around 30-40 still and I've infused a lot. Don't infuse every single thing.

Yeah I think I have a grand total of 8-9 exotic shards, I actually bought 5 Stag's to dismantle right now. I think exotic shards should be sold randomly like they do for engrams.

1 ReplyVoG exotic chests and Crota are useful to get exotic shards, almost the only reason to do those raids other then for fun, sunbreaker is particularly fun against the legions Templar throws at you.

I have always had 200+. All you have to do is repeatedly do all the activities that give exotics. In year one content, there is an exotic chance at: VoG Gorgon Chest VoG Atheon Normal VoG Atheon Hard CE Ir Yut CE Crota Normal CE Crota Hard Prison of Elders Chest (Once per Week and can be done on 28) Prison of Elders Skolas Legacy Engrams In Y2: Nightfall Iron Banner Packages (Both) Iron Banner Rewards (Post Games) ToO Silver Package ToO Gold Package ToO Flawless Chest KF Piston Chest KF Oryx Normal KF Oryx Hard KF Weekly Challenge Crucible Weekly Bounties Crucible Rewards (Post Games) 3oC Do these 3 times a week and you will be garrenteed to get at least 5-7 Exotics. You can also do the various quests a second or third time to get the exotic shards you need. I swear if this turns into another thing where someone's going to sell materials...

I've only ever bought two exotics from Xur. Suros back in year 1, which was followed by 3 dropping from my 3 nightfalls the next -blam!-ing week. Skyburber's Annex because I've gotten 7 Taikonauts but not a single Damn one of those. So most if not all my exotics are 310 already so I don't have this issue. But everyone who just started playing in TTK? Oh god Damn I feel bad for them
