I've been sniping since I got Destiny. I've heard people complain about fusion rifles. Nerfed them. Shotties? Nerfed, and then nerfed again. It seems like people are wanting snipers to be nerfed as well? Why? Im not trying to start an argument I just want to hear it from someone who isnt a sniper. I think sniper kills (non-revive) are well earned. You are vunerable while ADS, you can do nothing really if someone rushes while you focus, and its a 100% hit or miss situation. A body shot when theyre behind cover, and you just used your nade is a wasted shot and happens more often than you think. So opinions? Should sniper rifles be nerfed? If so, why do you think that? Open to different opinions. :)
Note: I do think revive snipes are bs. Revive shot gunned is also bs.

I don't have a problem getting sniped, what I do have a problem with is shooting a guy and his screen isn't kicking enough and he still snipes me while being shot at. I also have a problem with players being able to start a match with powerful long range weapon that can one hit kill anyone in the game. Also the body shot and switch thing is corny. Honestly Bungie should lower body damage and increase precision damage so as to force players to rely on headshots and not body shots. There's also ready and stow speeds as well.

Edited by LittleLostPlanet: 12/9/2015 2:01:24 AMBecause people don't know how to snipe and shotgunners don't like it when their fav crutch gets nerfed

5 RepliesPeople need to whine about something since shotguns have been getting nerfed so much...
-
Snipers really haven't changed much since year one, when very few complained about them. The highest base aim assist on a sniper was 69, this year it is 79. That's not that big of a jump. I just think that all the other guns have been nerfed so much that more people are gravitating towards snipers now, so it is much more common to be sniped now. People hate whatever guns they get killed by the most, so now it's snipers.

Edited by MindEntropy: 12/8/2015 4:26:33 PMSo funny so many complaining about snipers because they can't kill you with a felwinters from across the room. HoW had the most OP snipers in the history of destiny and no one was complaining then. People were rolling hidden hand and unflinching which isn't possible anymore. Or hidden hand and performance bonus with snapshot, injection mold or QuickDraw. Then adding a Shortgaze scope for even more aim assist. Better yet people had the ability To ascend God tier longbows or ldrs. What is wrong with you people? Is it just the toxic newbs complaining?

4 RepliesThere is a 10000 character post filled with facts and evidence showing you how AA in destiny is just like any other game and the varying AA stats don't make much of a difference. So everyone talking about AA you are bad and have NO clue what you are talking about.
-
11 RepliesOnly thing with snipers that should be nerfed is the ability to constantly kill you after being revived even through an over shield. I think that's not fair personally. Yes I have done it my self but I still say it shouldn't

3 reasons why I think people want a nerf/aim assist taken off/adding some sway to the guns. 1. people are salty as f that shotguns got nerfed 7 times And are now just melee weapons that actually slow you down if they are equipped... no other game has a shot gun slow you down, and unless you 10... shotguns don't slow you down in real life. People want snipers to lose their aim assist in pvp or at least get a sway added if snotguns are becoming another melee punch. (Please note I don't care about aim assist... so don't go all rage on me) 2. Snipers have become the target of a lot of noobs and people come on here talking like they are experts when they just camp and shoot from one corner of the map to the next and that's it. (This is my gripe with it personally). I hated last iron banner where the match starts and 5 red dots appeared through a door in the distance and I'd be taken down in a second... like seriously all of them just sitting there and waiting. Sorry... but this kind of meta slows the game to a crawl. I just want the sniper to be harder to use for noobs but easy enough for the actual good snipers to shine. (My understanding trials is the same now a days where it's 3v3 and one team is always just trying to snipe) 3. To many salty noob children get killed by other noob children... what happens when that happens? People complain and ask for a nerf... has been happening since day 1 last year. I personally don't complain on the boards, there's enough of that going around already... but this is what I primarily see when I'm on here.

I've got no problem with snipers, i've come across some seriously good snipers and admire their skill with it, my only complaint would be the revive snipe, I just find the overshield pointless given you can be dropped before you gain control of your character. It's okay when you've got a team communicating in trials that can co-ordinate their efforts either pushing or distracting the AA, but if you're in a matchmade team in elimination etc. teammates not using mics, not knowing where sniper is, or when & how to safely revive, it just becomes repetitive death, in these instances it really becomes tiresome, fast. If you stick a nade to a revived player he doesn't die, they can survive a super unless timed right, so why on earth is it the overshield becomes obsolete when sniped? Other than that, as you were guardian :-)

Just the gay ass revive spawn kill https://youtu.be/kMHLitw4Bg4
-
Anything they get killed by they cry for nerfs some things are necessary others are uncalled for
-
I mean people complain about anything that bothers them while playing, so they have a match where there outplayed by sniper users, they come here to complain, not much you can do
-
2 RepliesI like how you can snipe off Rez. It creates the need for tactical coordination trying to snipe the downed player while also avoiding enemies line of sight. Also, if you want to successfully res a teammate being watched by snipers, you can do so with good teamwork, either jumping in front of their line of sight or pushing your teammate.
-
I don't think sniping is BS in any way shape or form unless lag is involved. I'm a mediocre sniper at best and respect those that can dominate with one TBH.
-
Uneducated people are the problem. AA in year 1 was worse then it currently is... don't understand people and never will.
-
The aim assist is a little on the op side but not entirely. However aim assist on snipers are really helping you get a snipe I think this should not be a thing but that's just me.
-
Because people don't know how to aim. And also all you have to do is push the guy you revive.
scrubs
-
If they took away aim assist not one person would hit a shot. Next everyone would be complaining about that. You can't win, the crowds always have to complain about something

Edited by 乛Mage: 12/8/2015 12:22:08 PMPeople getting killed a lot, its the same with everything... Nerf Gunslinger, Nerf Blade dancer, Nerf Void Walker, Nerf Sunslinger, Nerf Striker, Nerf Shotgun, Nerf Nerf Thorn etc etc... Think you get the gist. Whatever people get killed by alot needs to be nerfed :-)
-
people are mad about snipes now because they don't know what else to get mad about, since the Sunbreakers got nerfed, people are grasping at straws for stuff that's "op". snipers won't be nerfed, I guarantee.
-
3 RepliesThe aim assist on some guns is ridiculous. I'm awful at sniping and I can genuinely do quite well using a 1000 yard stare simply because of the aim assistance. I gotten several clean head shots where the guy I killed wasn't even in my scope when I pulled the trigger.
-
3 RepliesLow Risk, High Reward. Bungie said Shotguns should be High Risk, High Reward. So, if Snipers are low risk, shouldnt they be low reward? Maybe do some damage scaling, where farther shots do less unless its a headshot? That is low risk/low reward, while still allowing for high risk/high reward up close. Or maybe something like travel time to make it harder- higher risk because its not hitscan.
-
2 RepliesAs you noticed the trend of complaints yes they will be nerfed. If the current state of the other secondaries stays the same they should be and it has not as much to do with aim assist on snipers themselves. Perks like snapshot, single point sling / quick draw, rifle barrel, hidden hand along with sights tacsys short gaze make it easy to head glitch and hard scope or run around & just engage when you'll get the first shot. The risk for sniping is extremely low compared to the reward which is even greater in revive able playlists. All the while they nerf perks out of existence on shotguns and nerf arc types on fusions snipers are now the easy to use weapon now tbh.
-
5 RepliesBecause, now that all the other special weapons have been/are being nerfed into oblivion (and sidearms are just bad :( Now there is nothing left to decently compete with snipers, so the community will cry nerf. They should have increased damage falloff for shotguns slightly, kept with their current fusion changes, increased sidearm stability and range across the board, and left snipers as they are. But no... and now crucible is just going to be an endless snipefest, with an occasional fusion or shotgunner
-
5 RepliesSnipers have way too much aim assist in Destiny and the hit box is larger than your head, I use all special weapons, but in my opinion snipers should have little to no aim assist and the hit box needs to be the size of the head not the balloon sized object around the head. I see where Bungie is coming from their trying to "dumb" the game down for the masses and put everybody on equal footing, but it's obnoxious.
-
as a lover of the shotgun game, and someone who will continue to use them once they get nerfed, no. I hate snipers (because I ain't em) but a headshot should always be a OHK and a body should do as much as it does in my opinion. Can't argue with precision. And for the aim assist complaint, if someone's kills with a sniper dramatically went up with 1000 yard short gaze (or any of the high AA snipers right now) then please speak up, because mine didn't. It still takes a certain skill to snipe.
