Halo 3: ODST OST Sneak Peek

I'm wondering why retail track listings for the odst soundtrack don't include "Rain" and "ODST Theme", which IMO are the two most important pieces. Can someone explain this please? As per Amazon.com: Disc: 1 1. Overture Listen 2. The Rookie Listen 3. More Than His Share Listen 4. Difference For Darkness Listen 5. The Menagerie Listen 6. Asphalt and Ablution Listen 7. Traffic Jam Listen 8. Neon Night Listen 9. The Office of Naval Intelligence Listen Disc: 2 1. Bits and Pieces Listen 2. Skyline Listen 3. No Stone Unturned Listen 4. One Way Ride Listen 5. The Light At The End Listen 6. Data Hive Listen 7. Special Delivery Listen 8. Finale Listen As you can see, the two pieces "Rain" and "ODST Theme", which Marty gave samples of on Bungie.net, are not in the list. Also IMO there's a major over-reaction to this OST. While it has one or two very good pieces, overall I found it to be mediocre. It's got nothing on the Halo 2 and 3 soundtracks. [Edited on 09.24.2009 10:07 PM PDT]

I'll be honest... I don't like the Saxophone in Neon Night or the [u]way[/u] the Electric Guitar is played on Traffic Jam. It just doesn't give me the right feel, those two things made those songs feel kinda late 80s early 90s ish. What I do like is the melody played by some kind of violin, I think it was, or bass in Traffic Jam... that sounded awesome. [Edited on 09.21.2009 5:39 PM PDT]

I don't have enough words to say how great is this. All of your soundtracks show how you're style have been evolving, since the 1° Halo, till this awesome music. I can't wait to have in my hands and feel how this great music caress my ears. Amazing work. JUST AMAZING!! You're the man, Marty. You are the man. . .

So far My Favorite of all the audio was "Traffic Jam" it would really calm me down if i was in a actual traffic jam lol

Oh man. When I first opened up 'Rain', I felt shivers down my spine. That creeping piano that builds up slowly into an orchestral masterpiece. It definitely captures the feeling of a rainy city at night, and most definitely loneliness. You do a great job Marty.

@ Marty: Well what shall I say other than "He did it again"! Music is something that can add so much magic to not only a movie but also to a game and I'm really glad to say that Bungie's got the right guy for that matter. In all my life - that's 29 years - I was never in to having any kind of computer or gamingconsole except for the last 2 years. Why am I mentioning this? Well, sometimes in ones life there can be a single "event" or "impression" that can change everything. So it was with the Halo games and me. It wasn't only the games themselves, but the music which gave the whole experience an extrodinary touch and from that moment on I was caught in the Halo-universe until today. So thanks Marty for letting us enjoy your artistic skills and talent, for we really love your music. Regards BENVIEN23 Austria

As always, I am impressed with the level of epicness presented in this soundtrack. Marty's outdone himself - and here I thought it couldn't get better than Halo 3's.

Traffic Jam is just one of the best videogame scores of all time. Marty, if you read this, you are the best at what you do. Infinite thumbs up.

This may sound really bizarre, but some of the violin parts of "Rain" -- 0:56 to 1:17 in particular -- remind me of Megaman X4 and X5 music. It's really cool though, and I LOVE the Sax, especially when it comes in near the end of Rain and brings you right back to the beginning. Great job, guys.

Marty is amazing. Halo soundtracks rock my world... I just hope best buy let's me buy it at midnight with ODST. For previous midnight releases, that haven't let me buy anything but the game.
