in vanilla we used to be able to sell it back to crucible/vanguard quartermasters
can't remember if it was for glimmer or marks
definitely a dead-end currency now once you have most things upgraded and spending marks on 280 vendor weapons/gear is probably not happening much so buying more mats with marks is not an issue
I'm pushing 1500 spin metal, every now and then just have to delete a 200 stack for vault/inventory space - similar for other mats and I'm not farming or buying them

man i wish i had all that, i havnt been picking stuff up while patroling like i used too, back during HoW i used to loot ALL of the spirit bloom, and i mean ALL of it, and i grew out of the habit, and now?.... i wish i had kept doing that

That would be fine again - at least it wouldn't just be "throw away" when extra accumulates
