Tried to play with a fusion earlier today and was getting sniped by a conspiracy theory. Switched to a better sniper in my Matador and never got out ranged again. They need to lower fusion rifle charge time and reduce the cone shape more.

I tried fusion rifles, never seemed viable in pvp.

Your not using em right. If you pre-fire correctly you can wreck a shotgunner
