Scene 11
*takes on newscaster voice* Hi, its Zebra, reporting live from the dreadnaught.... *clears throat* ITS RAID TIME, FOLKS!
Sanders: Titan, male, exo
Ralph: Warlock, male, human
Ayria: Titan, female, human
Suzanne: Hunter, female, awoken
GUEST GUARDIANS!:
Zeus: Warlock, male, human
Jason: Titan, male, human
Atlas: Hunter, male, human
Important Note: This isn't going to match the raid mechanics like they are in the game, because lets face it; it would be pretty boring if it followed the mechanics exactly. Like, for instance, I think it would be a lot more entertaining if they blew open the chamber door, instead of stepping on plates and picking up auras and all that stuff, y'know? (Plus it's a lot easier on the writer :P)
"This air tastes awful!" Atlas complained, coughing through his helmet. They were on the Dreadnaught in front of a chamber with weird statues.
Jason adjusted the filter settings on his helmet. "You got that right." he agreed.
"Smells like cookies!" Ayria stated, hefting the Jade Rabbit. "What are you guys going to name your guns?" she went on. Sanders groaned. "Ayria, can you stay on task for just 5 minutes?"
She patted her gun lovingly. "I'm going to name mine Bun-Bun." Zeus lightly smacked her over the head with his book.
"Anyone know what we're supposed to do besides stare at all this green wall?" Ralph asked, inspecting one of the statues. Zeus pointed to a floating ball which glowed white and sat on top of a pillar. "What's that?"
Atlas jumped to the ball and picked it up, clasping it in two hands. "Looks like it's a relic of some sort."
Ralph nodded and gestured to one of the statues, which had a circular groove engraved into its base. "Maybe we're supposed to put it in there?" They all shrugged, so Atlas walked over and set it into the enclave.
"Huh. Looks like it didn't-" Sanders tried to say but was cut off by a bright green flash as the triangular construct across the hallway was suddenly filled with black and green light.
"Whoah." Zeus whispered in awe, gazing at the green vortex.
"I believe that is a portal." Jason stated, walking slowly and cautiously up the steps toward the light. Ayria rolled her eyes.
"Why thank you, captain obvious." she said with a hint of exasperation.
Jason chuckled. "Ladies first." he said, giving Ayria a light push towards the portal. She yelped as she lost her balance and fell through.
Sanders and Jason fist bumped and they both disappeared into the vortex. Atlas followed nonchalantly.
"So it looks like we're all alone, aren't we, Zeus?" Ralph stated nervously, looking around for the warlock. "Zeus?"
Zeus was presently walking through the portal. Ralph groaned. "I'm always last." and with that, he put his hand into the vortex and disappeared from the present world.
Ralph gazed in amazement as numerous tombships flew past, rapidly disappearing and appearing in the empty space of this part of the dreadnaught.
"If we have to fight all of those, we are toast." Sanders observed warily, pacing around the platform which had a tombship docked on it.
Ralph rubbed the back of his head. "Then what do we do?"
The team sank into a discussion of what to do and what sort of trial was this, when Zeus, who had been relatively silent, spoke up. "I think," he interrupted, gliding to the top of the docked tombship. "That we need to traverse the tombships to get to the other side of this chasm." At that moment the tombship on which he was standing on started to move and began inching toward the chasm. Before long Zeus was a good 30 feet from the platform. "I'll observe the pattern and tell it to you guys. Cross after me!" he yelled.
Atlas shrugged. "Sounds like a good idea."
They sat there for five minutes or so watching the warlock cross from tombship to tombship, before finely landing on a similar platform. By then, he was only a speck in the distance.
The comms crackled. "Ok, jump on the next tombship that comes up." Zeus instructed.
They did, and like before, the ship started to move, creeping towards the center of the chasm. Ayria's armed pinwheeled as she leaned perilously backwards, before awkwardly latching onto Sanders' arm to regain her balance.
"Sorry." She muttered, and Sanders waved it off.
"No problem." he replied.
"Ok, now jump on the tombship to your right. Should be a bit below you." Zeus instructed.
Atlas launched himself from the ship and nimbly landed on the new one. Jason did the same, with the exception of him planting his knee to insure balance.
"Oops." Jason chuckled, lifting his knee to reveal a dent in the dark metal.
"Niiccceee." Ralph complimented, landing next to Jason. Sanders jumped down as well, leaving only Ayria on the ship.
"Cmon!" Whatcha waitin for?" Atlas asked energetically, gesturing to the ship they were on. The two ships got further and further apart.
"Ayria? What are you doing?" Zeus yelled through the comms. "You have to jump on that ship!"
"But..." her voice quavered. "H-heights."
"You can do it!" Ralph yelled, waving his hands. Soon the entire team was yelling.
"JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!" they all chanted, and she took one wavering step in their direction.
"Ayria, you have to go NOW. That ship is going to disappear, and you will fall." Zeus urged.
"F-f-fine." She muttered, along with some choice curses. She launched herself off the ship just as it phased out of the dimension, and with a light clunk she landed on their ship.
"Good job!" Zeus said. She sighed.
"I would appreciate it if we could just get out of this damned place." She muttered. Jason started to chuckle again.
Atlas looked taken aback. "What?" Jason grinned underneath his helmet. "Do a flip." Ralph and Sanders both started coughing very loudly, while Ayria scowled and slugged Jason in the shoulder. Zeus sighed loudly over the comms. "Alright. Back on task, back on task. Follow the order I give you."
The team leaped from ship to ship, with the occasional close call but without any major mishaps.
Sanders brushed himself off and turned to Zeus. "How did you know the correct tombships to jump on, anyway? I mean, some of them were diversions." He asked with a hint of suspicion.
Zeus shrugged. "Well, it was mostly lucky guesses and a lot of close calls. I would get these gut feelings that I was supposed to jump." Sanders's eyes narrowed, but didn't press him with further questions. He clapped his hands to get their attention.
"Okay, looks like that's our ticket out of here." he said, pointing to another tombship on the other side of the platform.
"FINALLY!" Ayria whooped, zipping to the ship and jumping on it. The ship gave off with a slight hiss.
