and raids aren't guaranteed because they're time consuming." Well the $$$$ your studio demands from the consumer shouldn't be too lofty and shouldn't be guaranteed neither. Again Bungie, keep this joker indoors stuck in the office and not outside doing PR stuff, he's not making anything better opening his mouth.....
It's hilarious, Tefty Teft the Podcast cast host cued Mr. Smith to not say that and Lukee Dookee kept on putting his foot in his mouth regarding how difficult it was to design and create raids and how it's just unrealistic to satisfy everybody in the gaming community. At least he's honest and not very hard to figure out, but the guy is a complete A-hole and douche bag. There's a time and place for one to be completely honest and speak their mind, but not when your trying to sell something or provide a service to group of people, I guess he missed that point in college economics 101 class.....lol!!!!!

He also said that ToO is the most competitive game mode Bungie has ever created. EVER! This includes the Halo games. Let that marinate for a second. Now, if he genuinely believes that I'm not surprised by the current state of Destiny PvP. Not that he's in charge of it but I strongly believe that Bungie employees are afraid to tell eachother when something is wrong so what he's saying is probably the consensus over at Bungie HQ. If he had said "least forgiving" game mode I might have given him the benefit of doubt but "most competitive" is just ridiculous. For starters, a game that is as broken as Destiny can never become competitive. The netcode is the worst EVER, there is no proper matchmaking, the abilities are gimmicky and the maps are horrible. And this is what he's comparing to the flawless executions that were the MLG and TO playlists in the Halo games. Even Reach Arena beats ToO out of the water. He's also saying that he would have wished that Destiny was played in a more competitive fashion on twitch. Well....yeah. The only problem with that is that no real PvP'er would go near it, due to the things I listed above. Fix your shit (although I believe it's way too late for that) and you might see it.

Not to lofty for Bethesda.
-
I think their game designing and overpricing are, not lofty, just downright pathetic and makes their company a bunch of worthless, talentless hacks.
-
Wow. I think the PR department keeps this guy around so they'll have jobs. I thought he was fired already, or is that a lofty idea?
-
Are the community goals lofty? Yes. I saw a post about a full scale Last City which is totally explorable, has a build mode, and NPCs and enemies. While this is similar to Fallout 4 in some aspects, this would be in addition to the base game AND would need to work on last gen consoles. (Also remember how many years it took to develop Fallout 4). These are lofty expectations our community has, and not even the most extreme example. Are Raids time consuming to make? Yes. The Destiny Raids are some of the most complex puzzles in FPSs. However, is it a lofty goal of the community to expect a Raid every expansion? I'm a bit on the fence about it, mostly because I think about how much work has been done on the story this time around with TTK. Would I rather have a Guaranteed Raid every expansion, or better story missions/ quest? What does everyone else think? I'm interested in what everyone else thinks?

You see that? You can go there... It's all playable geometry.

Is it a lofty goal for the game to work properly? Oryx HM on Friday - people kept lagging out of the party, the fireteam or both. We had to keep re-adding people. The game also lagged to the point we had to go to the tower and back hoping to change servers. Plates didn't light up for 10 seconds after getting on them. Oryx stood by the first plate and just hung out for a long time before slamming. Our runner ran through the relic without picking it up. Last night trying to help a friend get Black Spindle, two times, a player got dropped from the fireteam (one time also the party) with under 6 minutes on the timer. I paid for this. If you don't have time to make new raids, can you find time to deliver what you sold me? Thanks.
-
I don't get what's so hard about making a raid, they're a series of bosses with a jumping puzzle thrown in, with all their resources it can't be that hard to find some competent people to do the job
-
Apparently what was too lofty was what was supposed to be in the game originally
-
People who like Puke Smith are D-Riders
-
So you would rather he lied?
-
Hey OP, I (mostly) agree with what you've written. "Mr. Smith" should stick with what he does best - design content. Yes, he is honest, states what's on his mind, and his "filter" is basically nonexistent. Since he is a Bungie employee, I would venture to guess one of two things are happening here: (A) He has wide latitude to say as he pleases while discussing Destiny publicly or otherwise; or (B) He has what I deem "OMIF" or Open Mouth Insert Foot syndrome, and his superiors cringe every time he is scheduled to discuss Destiny via a public venue such as the Podcast you reference. In either scenario above, his track record for making crass comments regarding the Destiny Community isn't good, and all we can do is hope for great improvement in what he says/doesn't say in the future. Thanks for your post. Cheers.

Edited by HumbleSoopreme: 11/29/2015 9:54:02 PMI get Luke's frustration because game making is very hard and time/sleep consuming. But i think he also needs to (but i think he did already) realize the game is fundamentally flawed and needs a rehaul. TTK was def in the right direction tho and im sure bungie wont dissappoint. I dont think destiny will be capable of doing a ffxiv rehaul which was insane, but a diablo 3 is def possible. then again diablo is a very unique case because blizzard is so much more autonomous than Bungie is to Activison

If they dislike our lofty expectations then maybe they should be a bit less lofty in their marketing campaigns.
-
Yes, because if people should have low expectations for anything in this world, it's a 500 million dollar project.
-
Remember this when they hype train the fvck out of the next DLC. I'll be busy playing other games though

Edited by Thane: 11/29/2015 8:58:25 PMSigns of a disaster/cluter-blam!- of a project : - when a company lies before/after their launch repeatedly and hides the reasons behind the launch's short comings (employee mistreatment/lost case/much more). - when they say "look forward/to the future and forget about the past", yet keep -blam!-ing up left and right, pissing off their player-base with each expansion and the game keeps bleeding HEAVILY. To think they would bring their "A" game at this point. - when they act or are oblivious of the position they're in and keep letting this guy handle PR/speak on their behalf. - when whats left of the player-base are itching for the next Bungie -blam!- up to start a shitstorm. - when Bungie turns their game into a ridiculous Emote fest (such depth) and wonder why people take these Emote bonuses so seriously. - when they have zero vision/management/plan and keep nerfing/buffing stuff all over the place. - and finally, when they ask the player-base for free advertisement (refer a friend) while STILL being oblivious of their position AND MANAGE TO PISS THEM OFF AGAIN. If this's not a cluster-blam!- then i don't know what is (a record in stupid).
-
Well when they charge more for an expansion than an actual retail game in Australia (TTK was $70 here), I expect more content than a full retail game. Not 3 or 4 cutscenes and a bland story.

Just made a post about this. I believe that the fact that Luke smith still has a job at Bungie is a little "lofty"
-
It sucks when people expect you to do your job.
-
the fact of the matter is this is a one of a kind game that we all love, what needs to happen is another studio needs to make a game that is equally as good and addicting, then bungie will have no choice but to step up or step out, and i would be willing to bet that EA or some other big game maker is already at work on it
-
I get why some expectations are "lofty" such as a secret taken atheon boss fight for hard mode... But c'mon increased drop rates and having drops for KF drop higher or at least on par with current gear status... Is that too "lofty" for them to change, or are they just greedy and want to drag out this game longer? It's pretty simple, at least acknowledge that the drops for the current raid are sh.t, then say that improvements regarding drop rates and drops are incoming REALLY soon because we are already 2 months into TTK. 2 -blam!-ing months and out of millions of players playing this crap only 1 guy is the highest light level... TWO WHOLE MONTHS BUNGIE! BTW look around you white knights defending this crap, you're making the game more grindy. Sucking up to bungie won't improve the game. It won't change anything that NEEDS changing. It will only support them to make more crap decisions regarding monotonous raid drops and unnecessary grind sessions for our time invested. The only people blocking bungie from making improvments to destiny are you guys riding the bungie dick. Also, people are leaving destiny for 2 reasons, 1 bungie isn't doing or at least acknowledging things that need attention, and 2 the bungie fanboys who keep this game from becoming truly amazing are annoying and make up 90% of the LFG'rs to raid with.

Edited by Achomaniac: 11/29/2015 8:50:08 PMWhat a jackass. He reminds me of that fast food worker who acts like they're doing you a favor by waiting on you. IT'S UR JOB FUKNUT! But at least with the fast food worker you can give them a break because they're making crap money. I have a feeling Smith makes considerably more than minimum wage.
-
Same old lose-lose mentality. "Bungie lies all the time, what a-holes!" "Bungie is being honest, what a-holes!"
-
See this is why I stopped playing and went to Fallout 4. Free content updates, modding (on consoles), and awesome DLC that won't -blam!- your wallet like a Japanese pornstar.
