Luke Smith stated in Planet Destiny Podcast, "Community's expectations are a little lofty.....

and raids aren't guaranteed because they're time consuming." Well the $$$$ your studio demands from the consumer shouldn't be too lofty and shouldn't be guaranteed neither. Again Bungie, keep this joker indoors stuck in the office and not outside doing PR stuff, he's not making anything better opening his mouth..... It's hilarious, Tefty Teft the Podcast cast host cued Mr. Smith to not say that and Lukee Dookee kept on putting his foot in his mouth regarding how difficult it was to design and create raids and how it's just unrealistic to satisfy everybody in the gaming community. At least he's honest and not very hard to figure out, but the guy is a complete A-hole and douche bag. There's a time and place for one to be completely honest and speak their mind, but not when your trying to sell something or provide a service to group of people, I guess he missed that point in college economics 101 class.....lol!!!!!

  • Meh, I don't blame him. Day in and day out of hearing about how on one hand everybody loves VoG, it is always time to catch lightning in a bottle again. Luke Smith is sarcastic, we should know that by now. And, yes, our expectations are lofty. More lofty than the average community? Dunno. It is hard for any company, let a lone one in a creative field to come hat in hand and say what we all suspect, that they botched the handling of the game. Maybe we cut them some slack and not expect Bungie to permanently apologize for everything.

  • Promises that were made are a good place to start. Saying that that the demands are "lofty" is like saying you didn't plan on trying to meet these expectations, and now you're surprised that people aren't satisfied worth what you gave them. This is bungee, so of course high expectations are to be, well, expected. But this makes it sound like he never planned to make the consumer base happy so that he could retort with "its hard." This makes him look weak or that he intended to do the bare minimum to get the maximum pay out. It's like those cheap Chinese knock off toys worth all of the defects and recalls: it's easier to make a poor quality product that you know will be an easy sell. I mean, look at the downhill quality with rising prices of star wars figures after the Disney take over. If he cared about the image of the company, he'd say how these high goals are a benchmark that he hopes to make the company exceed. But instead, he says how hard their trying to keep up with absurd demands for decent quality made by the company's consumers.

  • I just want old shit we paid for again(the raids, strikes and gear). All this "well mmos do it all the time, you have to move forward" is typical fanboy elitist bullshit. Theres nothing wrong with keeping old stuff current NOT to mention it makes the game BIGGER and more DIVERSE. Add higher light and level requirements to old gear and raids. Simple. "Lofty expectations" pfft..

      • It more of the fact that "x" was promised, showed, or stated that this is the game. Game is released missing "x" or devoid of all previously shown or stated gameplay. Then patches or fixes are needed, and take months to drop. Community expectations weren't "lofty" as so elegantly quoted but disappointed with what was actually released. We were promised a "different" game than what actually was sold. Taken King, rectified some of the biggest glaring issues from year one but still didn't address a lot of issues. At this point, some players have $140+ into this game, with DLCs and expansion and do not feel they have received what they have paid for. I can't complain as far as that goes, as I've enjoyed countless hours of this game. I can tell you that from what was hyped on Bungie's end, compared to what was initially released, is far from what we were sold. There were a lot of factors tgat contributed to this, but they never once spoke up and told the community that they had internal issues that compromised what was to be destiny. The "destiny" shown prior to release is not the game we have now. That, and mainly that, are the biggest issues the community has.

        • All I read was when you said "neither" in the first paragraph. Then I quit. It's "either", not "neither" in this situation.

        • He's sort of right though. I mean, if all the community wanted was to have crota's end and vog be relevant again, then that wouldn't be lofty. If all the community wanted was a better loot system, then that wouldn't be lofty. But the community wants a thousand different things all at once. I suspect that's where the "lofty expectations" remark comes from. Not that it was a smart thing to say though. I really don't want to come off as a bungie supporter (I have no particular feelings either for or against them), but we don't even know exactly how much funding the game is currently receiving. For all we know this game might be more or less on life support right now, with most of the available funds being channeled into the making of Destiny 2. After all, once that game releases I'm sure they'll want every destiny player to move to the new game, so it makes less sense to devote alot of resources to creating new quality content for a game that will be replaced in 12 month's time.

          • why are you listening to Luke Smith in regards of marketing? nobody whos on the fence listens to Luke, only people interested in the behind-the-scenes operation/construction of destiny listen to Luke Smith. also, so you want people to lie to you and hold things back?

            • It's not like he's wrong. People cry for one thing and bitch when they get it. People want new content, but constantly complain and want them to work on old content so they can keep playing it. People wanted new ways to get exotics, farmed 3 of coins to oblivion, then bitched they got everything to quick, only to then cry about rng not giving them enough quick enough. Nerf this, buff that, give me everything, because newcomers shouldn't have anything we don't have.

                • If our expectations are a little lofty, then who is responsible for hyping said expectations? This seems like community management at its purest. Activision and bungie are treading the fine line between hyping our expectations but managing their development budget. Hype + delivering = $$$. Overhype can kill a franchise. Repeatedly under delivering has the same effect. TL;DR for every Deej promising us good stuff (Good cop) we have a Luke Smith tempering expectations (bad cop). This is called community management.

                  • In total I put in $180, been playing since day one I got my money's worth. The only thing making it worse is all the ppl crying. This game is the grind, and with all the changes they've made for the cry babies and ppl who claim not to play, it's destroying all the replay value. Shut the -blam!- up already before it gets worse still.
