Hey bungie, I notticed that you don't know how a RPG works...
If I'm so strong leveled than the enemies, why they do a lot of damage to my chars?? Do you know that when you play another RPG and you're like level 99, the enemies at level 4 don't even does damage at you? I like a difficult game but even Destiny is being ridiculous with this one.

I feel like I should just stamp "power creep " on my forehead . In a game like this , doing far more damage to lower level enemies would completely trivialize most of the content , e.g. one shotting atheon with an auto rifle . Damage caps are in place for a reason .

1 ReplyEdited by Admino: 12/1/2015 9:56:43 AMDestiny is not an MMORPG. It is an FPS that has some MMORPG traits. There is a reduction to damage given/taken when fighting enemies of different levels. To put it simply, you deal and take the same damage when fighting enemies 4 or more levels below you. That means that if you are 40, there is no difference between a level 3 and level 36 in terms of damage dealt/taken. This is also the reason why it's not possible to join an activity rated as 4 or more levels above you. When fighting against higher level enemies, you deal less damage. A difference of 4 or more levels means you deal 0% of damage and can't damage anything so the game won't let you join that activity. Of course, this info pre-TTK so things might be different. I think this system was used to prevent strong characters from carrying low level characters through content.

The thing i love is how taken captain's spam the blinding bubble and if theres two of them thats it.

2 RepliesHave you met Randal the vandal?

3 RepliesI got the answer for my question, and it was none of yours. Still, thanks for the ones who really tried to help. The thing is, if you keep taking damage even if you're strong, you will die. But, some enemies have a type of weapon that does a lot of damage. And, if you look at the upgrade they done before the taken, you will see that our base damage now is 2 times, and the enemies are 3 times their base damage. Like one of the player said "that's their way to keep the game interesting".
-
2 RepliesThe normalize your damage output to the level of the enemies your facing, keeping somewhat challenging...oh and artificially extending the grind.
-
It's a shared world...duh!
-
1 ReplyWoah, it's september 2014 again.
-
You realize you can stand there for a while and *not* die as they shoot you? Or that they don't shoot you constantly, they stand there? I've done that for giggles in the Cosmodrone, just stood there in the middle of 3 dregs, did it for about 3-4 minutes, didn't die, got bored, jumped into the river and killed myself.

2 RepliesDid you start playing Destiny the other day?
-
1 ReplyYou still have problems with level 4 enemies? :)
-
1 ReplyA level 4 enemy isn't the only thing you should be worried about
cough*your spelling*cough
-
Settle down there. Been there done that and "too weak" mobs populating entire areas is pointless. The blend of just easy enough fodder mixed with taken spawns or raiding wolves is refreshing. Oh and it's not an ROG so be prepared to be disappointed if that's what you expect.
-
Them level 4 dregs just got level 78 guns. We don't stand a chance. Nuff said.
-
5 RepliesThe game has a 3 up 3 down rule. Meaning that you scale to enemies 3 levels and below, and enemies 3 levels and above become 75% stronger and immune. Basically, your armor stat, health every god damn stat makes no difference to game play. The only thing that matters is what level you are. And even then, enemies can be much stronger than you, but you can never be much stronger than enemies. It's how they keep this shitty hollow -blam!-ing game going with its endless grind and pointlessness.
-
6 RepliesI believe it's Primarily due to a lack of locations and enemy types. If level 3 dregs were weak against a 310, then you could just sit in a spot for days without worrying. There aren't enough places to explore to allow the light level to reach it's full potential as well. You just run through the same areas for bounties, beacons, public events, ect. If we were too strong, the game would be boring due to these dilemmas. There has to be a challenge. But it's not properly structured.

That number is there to show you if you are below their level how hard they are in comparison to you, once you exceed their level the game balances you to them so you're on equal footing. You will never ... Ever ... Ever be more powerful than the enemy in public play zones e.i. patrol
-
1 ReplyThink of it like this. The number above the enemy's head isn't their level. That number is just a "recommended level" for you to be to face them.
-
15 RepliesAnd Deej said in his interview...
"You will feel more powerful then ever before "
-
Not all, Guild Wars works like Destiny.
-
Destiny world is small that's why they are adjusting enemies dmg to match your Lv
-
Randal the Vandal!!!
-
Wouldnt work since destinys world isnt big enough. In other rpgs you rarely return to the starting point but in destiny you have to farm that spinmetal lol.

28 RepliesEdited by Arrg_The_Pirate: 11/28/2015 8:27:40 PM
Hey bungie, I notticed that you don't know how a RPG works...
Hey Kairem, I noticed you don't know destiny is not an rpg. Plus there are a lot of games that do exactly what you implied but are RPGs. Guild wars 2 does exactly that and is amazing. So.....

You and the enemy will do a maximum of 2 levels worth of damage to each other. Meaning, when you shoot at the level 4 dreg, you are doing damage as if you are level 6, not level 40. This doesn't take into account multipliers like precision damage and specific armor/gun perks, which can add to the base damage. This is Bungie's way of keeping the game interesting. If your level 40 char went all over the solar system killing everything in one shot, the game will get boring.
