I keep seeing posts about how the first part of the chaperone quest is so hard. This is the exactly the kind of thing bungie would nerf to cater to ultra casuals.
I have The Chaperone. I got it week three cause I slacked off on the final mission (which is a lot harder than the first part). I didn't boost and I did it on my warlock. Check my sub one kd if you want, but if a scrub like me can get this gun then you can too.
I did most of my matches in Rift. Lots of people congregating in one spot makes for easy pickings. As others have said, you just need the gun equipped when you get kills so bust out those machine guns and go nuts!
Anyway Bungie, please do not nerf this quest. It's a good level of difficulty for a good weapon.

Edit: More tips
- Try mayhem, as long as your equipped primary is TLW, all your secondary/heavy/super kills will count towards the quest
- You get 3 points for a win, so equip the gun prior to a match win for easy points
I've seen a lot of people saying that this quest is easy. I'm not here to refute that. It will be easier for some and more difficult for others. But that's the way it should be. :) I'd also like to thank everyone for being civil, it's a refreshing change of pace from your usual forum fare.

Edited by IMI Scythe IMI: 11/27/2015 5:12:50 PMSigned, I'm only at 70% will the last word kills but this should stay as the year 2 version of the thorn quest where not everyone can get it but everyone wants it

It was the very first Exotic quest I got and I completed with ease. The first part was the hardest but I've got an all time KD on my Warlock of 1 so if I can do it, so can anyone else

I would do it
if I had the last word...
I wish you could still use other guns... not anymore I had to use mine actually using TLW

Signed. Same goes for the first curse.

Signed. I love my Chaperone. Its worth the quest by far. I mean, I love it because you actually have to aim it. Seeing the 274's as I blast a Sunbreaker in the back of the head is just awesome.

The first part is the only part that sucks. Everything else is easy. They need to keep it the same as it is. People will eventually get it. And if they didn't change the Thorn bounty, which was hard without decent guns, they won't change this bounty either.
-
Got it the first week it was available. :DDD Chaperone is love. Chaperone is life.
-
Should be harder...
-
I'm on the last part of the quest, and honestly, I hope they keep it the same. It was a fun quest, and I'm going to complete it tonight.
-
I did it by accident having fun with TLW. People say it sucks now, and I sincerely disagree.
-
They won't nerf it. But next expansion it will be free. Like all the old exotic bounties.

It's one of the few weapons that you can truly earn in this game. I grinded out the terrible crucible section in the first week, and was one of the first to acquire the gun upon the following arms day, or weekly reset, or whatever day it was you had to wait for. It was an accomplishment, and when you get the gun you feel a rare satisfaction that doesn't come along very often in this game. Why deny anyone else that satisfaction by making it easier? It would be an(other) insult to us that have done it at its most difficult.

Edited by SnazzySquid: 11/27/2015 4:10:10 PMNo one is allowed to have individual accomplishment in the Crucible anymore. Chaperone is the one reward in the Crucible that you have to do yourself, consistently. Trials is great, but you can be carried. Iron Banner is just time invested. Thorn doesn't even exist as a quest in Year 2. Chaperone doesn't make you awesome at PvP (see my stats for proof) but it is still a badge of respect in my mind because it means you put in the time, figured out how to do it and went through the frustration of occasional setback. Respect earned, not begged for.

Agree. I couldn't do Black Spindle for weeks but when I finally did, it felt like an achievement. If you can't do it, you don't get it. Same as Thorn.

Agree

Fully agree Horrible at pvp I slugged through it for weeks. (btw I disagree with the strike being harder but that's an each to their own opinion) Keep it how it is. Only those that persevere should get it.

What Bungie needs is to stop forcing people into pvp. It should have its own set of gear and quests, and if you wanted to do pvp or pve, then you can only use their specific gear. It's ridiculous that almost every exotic quest keeps demanding 90% pvp and 10% pve. Eventually they'll probably make flawless run a requirement to do the raid.
