I keep seeing posts about how the first part of the chaperone quest is so hard. This is the exactly the kind of thing bungie would nerf to cater to ultra casuals.
I have The Chaperone. I got it week three cause I slacked off on the final mission (which is a lot harder than the first part). I didn't boost and I did it on my warlock. Check my sub one kd if you want, but if a scrub like me can get this gun then you can too.
I did most of my matches in Rift. Lots of people congregating in one spot makes for easy pickings. As others have said, you just need the gun equipped when you get kills so bust out those machine guns and go nuts!
Anyway Bungie, please do not nerf this quest. It's a good level of difficulty for a good weapon.
Sign if you agree.
Edit: More tips
- Try mayhem, as long as your equipped primary is TLW, all your secondary/heavy/super kills will count towards the quest
- You get 3 points for a win, so equip the gun prior to a match win for easy points
I've seen a lot of people saying that this quest is easy. I'm not here to refute that. It will be easier for some and more difficult for others. But that's the way it should be. :) I'd also like to thank everyone for being civil, it's a refreshing change of pace from your usual forum fare.

I still cant find a bloody match for the Shield Brothers with specialist. I might solo it with Invective if it does come down to it.

I agree, hate seeing all of these quests get nerfed down: I did the horrible, long, crazy original Crucible quest for the Nightfall Tier rewards/quests to get unlocked on my Main Character, I unlocked the Chaperone, I just finished for the First Curse quest, solo'd the No Time to Explain stuff (aside from Raid part -- haven't finished that just yet): I feel very average in my FPS skills. If I can do this, everyone else can and should have to as well, if they want those rewards. It's just like Trials of Osiris -- I won't be seeing the special area for going undefeated because I don't have those skills. And I don't ask for anyone to nerf those requirements and let me (and my average skills) obtain something I can't. Why should everyone else get things easy?

Its easy the way it is now

Only thing i want bungie to change in this quest is make it take away 1% when you die instead of 2%. With that percentage increasing 1% for every consecutive death thereafter. That way trading will not result in a net loss but you don't gain anything either. Though if you keep dying back to back you suffer. Yeah i suck ass with the last word, and even i managed to get to 68% in a few hours in the rumble playlist. Sadly, i'm not pro at sniping. which caused me to get most of my kills with TLW. Damn this gun sucks ass now compared to Y1. I literally gotta play people into getting within fusion rifle distance, since any closer and a shotgun appears without fail. Problem is with this quest is that deaths are 2% and kills 1%. So if i go 20-10 or 30-15 i literally gain next to nothing. Problem is, is that since most the time due to small amounts of lag, i do a few trades in a match which net me negative percentage. Last night most of my matches were 2.5-3.5 KD matches while getting either first or second place. Hell at one point i was at 76% then after jumping into a match mid game where everyone had their supers and heavy, i died a few times back to back within about 45 seconds lolz. They do need to do something though. It is entirely possible to do even with just mainly using TLW in a rumble playlist, but damn is it frustrating as hell. Trying to do this legitimately using mostly TLW in a free for all playlist is... punishing. Since bungie nerfed the absolute -blam!- out of HC's.

Disagree, easier is better.
-
No, it needs to be HARDER. Maybe win 7 games in a row without activating a single super. ~TheGreatNike

Edited by Xiuceus: 11/27/2015 7:00:27 PMall you need is heavy and to go on a kill spree

Chaperone quest is easy. Last Word part done in 2 games, same with shotgun part. Not even First Curse is TOO hard, sure it's hard but not needed to make it easier.
-
Signed, I did this shit the first week and completed the first step in two games of control.
-
It's actually retarded easy. Use bad juju for super, equip last word then wreck, and unequip. Done in a few matches.
-
Signed even do its not hard at all
-
Ah another sour grapes thread. Another jealous crybaby upset that he had to do it the hard way so he should be a special snowflake. I thought special snowflakes ended with year 1. Must be a noob.
-
I managed it. Felt so happy when I beat the last word step. And even happier after actually getting the gun
-
I'm trash imo, but luckily I managed to get some 6 kd matches and boom done
-
Chaperone quest was really not that bad. Now Imprecation? That was some bullshit.
