It's a lot of things. I made a whole list but I can't copy it over to here because I'm on my phone. So I'll list the major ones.
-console exclusive content
-pre-order bonus from another game for something in this one
-cash grab DLCs with barebones content (TDB was $20 and got you 2 story missions, 1-2 strikes depending on console, some weapons and armor, and a raid. Look at how much $12 in Mario Kart 8, or $20 in Hyrule Warriors gets you. Go on. I'll wait.)
-console exclusive content within a DLC
-collector's edition for a DLC
-they tried to make veterans pay $80 for the CE content (the CE was $20 extra) Thankfully this failed.
-arbitrarily walling off content for last gen even though in most cases they didn't have to
-console exclusive content within a DLC AGAIN
-microtransactions
-microtransactions fund events which serve to make us buy more microtransactions
-false or vague advertising
-huge communication barrier between Bungie and fans (they never talk to us. Hardly ever)
-vague on telling us anything about the game unless it makes them money
-Refer A Friend
And the list goes on. There's a reason they've accumulated so much hate, and they deserve it in full.

I agree with almost every one of these. It's a long list. They did it to themselves. We still play their game. But we aren't happy about it. Lol

I like the game, too, and that's the biggest problem. It has some problems, but they're all easily fixed. Problem is, Bungie would rather milk us out of money by literally any means necessary than actually address those. Their game is stagnating and it's their own fault. Another thing about the microtransactions is that they were supposed to speed up the frequency of updates (they said that much), but they're still slow as hell. Even when they're being forward with us they're lying!

So go play a different game and shut up cry baby, no one forced you to buy or play this game
