Let me just say i started the game a week ago, leveled from 1 to 40 and currently have a light level of 249. I've played plenty of shooters including CoD, BF, CSGO, killing floor, battlefront, and others. I've also played just about any mmo pvp out there, wow, war, swtor, aion, rift.
Now I just spent a solid 15 hours in the crucible trying to get better, trying to do the daily and the bounties really just to get better gear. I've must have played 40 matches and lost every single one! and what i see is the same thing, some dude with a hand cannon with a 5 kill streak one shooting everyone. Or my favorite getting OHKO by a melee when mine takes like 3 hits.... Or (and i swear this happened 10 min before i posted this) blowing my stormtrance and attacking this one guy that apparently had enough time to switch to his sniper rifle, and OHKO me in trance! completely wasted trance. And every single match I'm about mid way on the killed, around top 3rd or 4th.
I don't think i'm bad but seriously whats the deal! is pvp suppose to be this unforgiving to new comers? am I not suppose to go into the crucible or is there something for new people? I see people say gear doesn't matter but from what i've experienced thats a bold face lie! How do I progress if I need a certain reputation / legendary marks for gear, and every item i've won at the end of these matches have been considerably weaker than what i currently have?
I am blowing off steam here, but i'm also being serious. losing match after match after match for hours on end gets very discouraging. And I would love to get better, I'd love to actually enjoy pvp.

Dude, your K/D is really good for only having about 2 days played. Just try some more, and eventually you'll become really good I think. When I started, I had like a 0.5 K/D, but now it's at 1.6;)

Welcome to Destiny
-
I'm surprised you said hand cannon and not pulse rifles
-
Here is your bucket for the tears and a block of salt. Your heavy dose of disappointment will be here momentarily.
-
You can't expect to be good after a day. There's people that've played since release and they're still bad. Obviously not trying to get your hopes down, but it's a matter of seeing what's out there, weapons people play with, how people move around a map, when to be aggressive, optimal time to use your super, when to sit back and body shot with an Ernie....etc. Just watch and pay attention to streamers who're good. Ask questions about their setup, play style, and why they chose to play as such.
-
Just wait until you can play TRIALS..LOL.LOL.LOL
-
It does not matter if you are good or bad the pvp is just ugly....btw this not butthurt I found the pvp quite easy even solo....its just a real mess of laggers, op weapon scrubs, bad map design...so on so forth..
-
It's not you, it's Bungie
-
Welcome to destiny, the salt lick is behind the speaker.
-
You're just bad and started playing this game at the wrong time. Only people on that game right now are people that only play THAT GAME.
-
I see a common denominator in all those losses.
-
Bro you only have like 200 kills in pvp. You just need to play more man. :p
-
Well if you are losing a melee battle everytime then don't go close. If hand cannons are wiping you out them invest time and buy one
-
This pvp isn't like cod or any other it is it's own game and you will need to practice, learn how to use weapons learn maps and learn game modes, you can't seriously think spending 15 hours in crucible makes you a pro at the game surely? FYI the only weapon that will kill you in 1 headshot is a sniper/shotgun.

Edited by eEverchanger: 11/27/2015 6:12:51 AMYEah everything youre saying makes sense. Hear me out, pvp is all about working together and communicating. -Being able to communicate with your team, or playing on a fireteam gives you an advtange Most of the times people die theyre getting teamshot by 2 enemies in a hallway or something. This is my second point. -Know the maps, at least know hallways, and know where where enemies are People know where to expect you so if youre not ready to expect them hardscoping down the hallway you will be in trouble. Work togther with your team if you guys stick together and can hold a point, use corners, and let them try to come to you. Its a lot easier to get kills this way playing with randoms. yea everything moves too fast its one of the huge complaints that has been here from the start but, it's meant to be that way, fast-paced. Its suppose to feel like CoD (I guess?) I think that's what Activison wanted for the game. And yea some stuff you just die and go what? lol, but all I can do is just laugh at those moments. other times I feel like I can only play pvp for 5 matches or so before Im ready to take a beak. Ive been playing since day 1 but only got into pvp during the 1st Iron banner. There comes a point where you just dont care about losing anymore and try to do the best you can or have fun with a new weapon or build youre trying out. Ive played a ton of pvp but I side more pve now.

Tbh. You'll g d t used to it
-
Don't count on wins or losses until it comes to iron banner or trials ... Look at you personal k/d ratio and your score on that round. It will be improving. I'm no pvp God or anything but I significantly improved when I just played pvp all day for bounties instead of pve. You'll get there, it's a learning curve and trust me you'll still get pissed every time you pop your super and get killed.
-
Connection mediocre at best, needs dedicated servers to keep playing field even. One lagger in the lobby and session is screwed.
-
Add me on ps4 poLarbear925. Having a team helps a lot. You can roll with us if you want.
-
If you dont have a good connection in games you'll get annihiated. Might be the issue...
-
If you honestly believe this game has the worst PvP you have not played many games. Such dark, dark memories.
-
To be honest in year 1 I didn't touch the crucible until 7 months later when I had all the gear and step up I needed. Basically if your new dont go to the crucible if you are a stat guy like me. Wait plan get the gear you need for your step up/load out and then do so.
-
I agree. Worst pvp experience ive ever played. I stopped playing almost 9 months ago and I only play to get gear or rewards since then. I really do hate pvp.
-
Just keep at it , I really never played pvp only for quest. I was 0.3 kd when I first started. I raised that to 1.3 kd over the last month. Find what works for you, pulse, auto, scout rifles, shotgun, sniper , fusion rifles find what you feel comfortable using. Stay with teammates at times, your not going to win every battle especially when your out numbered. Know when to run
-
Yeah, I checked how long you've been in PVP... Not even three hours...
15? Gtfo
-
You were probably in iron banner. In this event level matters so you were probably going against 290+ guardians which have a massive advantage over you. If you know 100% you were in a regular crucible game then I don't know what to say.
