Let me just say i started the game a week ago, leveled from 1 to 40 and currently have a light level of 249. I've played plenty of shooters including CoD, BF, CSGO, killing floor, battlefront, and others. I've also played just about any mmo pvp out there, wow, war, swtor, aion, rift.
Now I just spent a solid 15 hours in the crucible trying to get better, trying to do the daily and the bounties really just to get better gear. I've must have played 40 matches and lost every single one! and what i see is the same thing, some dude with a hand cannon with a 5 kill streak one shooting everyone. Or my favorite getting OHKO by a melee when mine takes like 3 hits.... Or (and i swear this happened 10 min before i posted this) blowing my stormtrance and attacking this one guy that apparently had enough time to switch to his sniper rifle, and OHKO me in trance! completely wasted trance. And every single match I'm about mid way on the killed, around top 3rd or 4th.
I don't think i'm bad but seriously whats the deal! is pvp suppose to be this unforgiving to new comers? am I not suppose to go into the crucible or is there something for new people? I see people say gear doesn't matter but from what i've experienced thats a bold face lie! How do I progress if I need a certain reputation / legendary marks for gear, and every item i've won at the end of these matches have been considerably weaker than what i currently have?
I am blowing off steam here, but i'm also being serious. losing match after match after match for hours on end gets very discouraging. And I would love to get better, I'd love to actually enjoy pvp.

Use a pulse rifle, sniper, machine gun...play the meta

4 RepliesHand cannons where nerfed....I suggest pve to improve. Pvp is more unforgiving

Find the right weapons. There are the popular ones, then there are the ones that work for you. Play defensively for a while. Keep enemies in front of you and at a distance until you learn maps better and how to read the radar. There are nuances to the radar that will help you judge range, and direction, with practice.

2 RepliesEdited by G_Senpaii_: 11/28/2015 10:46:23 AMI read your post and to shed a bit of light on your problem....first i think you should pay more attention to your radar be much more aware pick your gun fights right from short to mid to long range i took a look at your warlock and seen your weapons the pulse rifle is fine if you have the right perks the fusion rifle you have i say your better off with a shotgun with good range now with your heavy ....since TTKs release rocket launchers are preferred heavy weapons LMGs usaully get recked ..... Now with sounds of each subclass depending on how much hours you put in to pvp you have to learn what everything sounds like from your bladedancer going invisible to your voidwalker blinking to your strikers shoulder charge wether you have a headset or not pay attention to everything you hear in pvp you will catch on and itll make you a badass from my perspective

The right weapons and knowing the maps helps alot.

It takes a bit of getting used to. One of the biggest advantages as in any fps game is knowing the maps. And that only comes with time. If you are looking to get better in the long run you are better just staying in rumble. It only relys on your own skill and you will be better for it. It will also prepare you more for trials etc then what the 6v6 game types will. If you are newer aswell I suggest starting in the classic 6v6 or ffa games aswell as I find there are a lot less try hard types and a lot more new players in there.

28 RepliesI hope they never match you against me. You get killed by HC? That's impressive, HC are weak, useless for any competitive game mode unless Eyasluna and TLW. I went from 0.80 kdr to 1.20 kdr, from 1.20 kdr to 2.1, but 2 wasn't enough for me, I'm a monster and I want to be feared so I went from 2kdr to 3.2kdr. I can't teach you how to play, but I can give you some tips, powerful tips, send me a message you can ask me everything, oh and you should never forget to think you're the best.

It takes a lot of getting used to! Knowing the map layout is the biggest advantage. Vertical space is hugely advantageous! Keep going, play defensive until you're confident pushing. Nothing wrong with bugging out to get your health and shield back! Using the super is always a risk. Generally speaking I'd say you need to be close to the enemy but in some form of cover as you use it so not to give them to much time for your arrival! Keep playing, you'll get the hang of it no doubt. Even with all its faults and balance issues destiny pvp is great fun!

3 RepliesPvp is trash I agree. It's just too broken

Everyone in here writing paragraphs. "OP sucks" Is the correct response.

Lag and crazy imbalances between guns and sub classes.....the developer has said it's not to be taken too seriously....just treat it like a distraction and a bit of silly fun and u may have more success....a lot of cheap tactics u can use if not:)

I love pvp and the first week I played destiny I flipped out many many times, but I am the sort of person that enjoys a challenge and will keep coming back. Skills in other fps's will most likely not translate over to destiny because of the time to kill which is somewhere between Halo and COD. Since the time to kill is significantly longer than COD it means recoil matters more, it also means you can't kill more than one person super quickly with most primaries, it means that sometimes you are going to have to chase people after having already putting shots into them. Also guns matter in Destiny PVP a lot. The best guns are way better than the worst guns. In COD you can generally wreck with any primary weapon if you are skilled, in destiny this is not the case. You need to get better weapons in order to expect to thrive in crucible. Also supers, despite being supers require some level of mastery in order to do really well with them. Just stick to one class you enjoy for a while and you will learn it and eventually play pretty well with it.

I've noticed since update 2.0 lag is a huge issue. Some games I can't do hardly any damage and end up with a 0.3kd. I've also found when in a fireteam connection seems to improve? This may be your problem?

It can get very frustrating but don't give up.

Once you learn the patterns people take and start pushing players before they push you. You'll go postive.

one day I was playing crucible and a friend of mine came visit. he saw the game and the first thing he said was "this multiplayer just way too chaotic" that's the whole point of crucible for me. you'll get used to it
-
It's gratifying once you overcome the learning curve.. Practice bud, add me if you need someone to PvP with on ps4

Wouldn't be destiny without all the unbalanced shit, bugs and shit servers.

5 RepliesEdited by The Fighting Lion: 11/27/2015 7:45:38 PMThere are a bunch of things you need to know about pvp in destiny. Because you have adequate experience in the past you'll get everything pretty quick. Its not balanced, nor probably ever will be, but once you're familiar with how it all works, its fun. Pretty much the only thing I do in-game anymore. If you're on ps4, hit me up

Your "WTF!?" moments will never end in the Crucible. They happen all the time. I have a lot of hours in the Crucible, and i was god awful to start. I used to grind out thise year one bounties all the time. i didnt really pay attention to my k/d, cause i was more focused on the bounties which were so much more grindey than now. In time, i got better, knew where to look for enemies, learned how to pop my super to get max carnage with it, and most importantly: i learned my weapons, their perks, and practiced in PVE all the types of things i wanted to be able to do in the Crucible. My k/d isnt very high, but i am regularly at the top of the Scoreboard in a Crucible match. Why? Because POINTS, thats why. More points if you kill with headshots, more points if you kill near zones in control, more points for heavy kills and Super kills.... etc. Get comfortable using your weapons in NF's, then bring them into the Crucible... and remember: Points is how you win. Not K/d.

3 RepliesUnless you are in Iron Banner or Trials of Osiris, nobody is one shotting you with a HC or melee. (If you are in those modes, you're going to get wrecked because of your level.) Destiny PvP is different. You need to learn how to play within Destiny and not try to play COD, Halo, what not in Destiny. Go to Crucible Playbook in Reddit and watch some videos and get a feel for Destiny's game.

Solitare has worst pvp

3 RepliesYour .8 kd says different

Look into mayhem rumble. I consider that the funnest pvp experience Destiny has to offer.
-
Yeah.... You said you've played 40 matches...... Yeah..... You've only played 10.
-
Dude, your K/D is really good for only having about 2 days played. Just try some more, and eventually you'll become really good I think. When I started, I had like a 0.5 K/D, but now it's at 1.6;)
