Worth WAITING to DE-CRYPT my EXOTIC Engrams?
I only have one character. l only have time to play one character - and this is fine with me. However, I have received (or bought from xur) just about every exotic piece of armor there is available SO FAR in YEAR TWO...
I like doing strikes and i have a bunch of '3 of coins', it just seems like i never get an exotic weapon engram.
I have heard that Bungie will be introducing more EXOTIC Gear in the near future.
My QUESTION is: If i hold on to my Exotic Armor Engrams and wait until there are NEW EXOTICS introduced, is there a chance it will decrypt into the new gear or will it still just give me another 'Skullfort' or 'Crest of I already have five of these'?
ALSO, does anyone know if there is actually a YEAR 2 'Eternal Warrior' Helmet?

Why does everyone think engrams are predetermined? That's means a blue I found on my hunter would decrypt into a hunter item but when I move the blue to my warlock why does it decrypt into a warlock item?

Well, even if they don't get a chance to be the new exotics when the patch drops, if you have next to every availible exotics there really isn't harm in waiting. If they are limited to pre-patch then you would have gotten the same thing now as you do then. But if they aren't limited when it rolls out, you have a chance to get new shit. I'd just sit on em till December. There is literally no downside.

No point waiting if you are hoping for the new exotics. The rolls are already predetermined and its set to the exotics available when it dropped for you.

3 RepliesIm pretty sure they wont open as new exotics since they were obtained before the update. Like last year only exotic engrams found after the respective update can give the new exotic gear. Im not 100% sure, just my speculation due to last year.

Last year there was vanilla engrams, TDB engrams, and HoW engrams, which is why there was no use in stacking up on engrams before an update. As for your question, it all depends on how Bungie implements the new loot into the table. I'll bet on your old engrams dropping new gear, however.

No y2 eternal warrior Based on experience, you will not get December exotics from before hand engrams But we don't know how bungie will introduce the December exotics... Could be a case of them switching a switch and current tables are updated Or A new engram drops with the same name but new loot table this a seem less transition but before hand engrams can't get the new exotics Twilight and the tarantella did drop with current engrams after all As for the "they are determined upon engram acquisition," I'd need to see an official response to that

Im saving all mine now because i already have all the exotics. It may work or it may not either way i have no use for these exotic engrams right now.

1 ReplyYeah Bungie has made sure not to allow new exotics to be opened into old engrams... So all your body armour exotic engrams will be just crest of alpha Lupi or the warlock body armour... Just for an example... So don't be so disappointed when you open them and realize your getting vanilla taken king gear and not new taken king loot.

For example, say you get a legendary engrams from Vault of Glass. So when you decrypt it, you won't get something like the Anguish of Dystan, a King's Fall weapon, but you'll get Atheon's Epilogue instead. So essentially, Engram RNG is narrowed down based on where you got it. Just decrypt em. There's an exception. Exotic engrams draw from their own pool, making any next year exotic eligible for dropping. Save those.

It's already decided what your engram will be when you pick it up. The only thing that might be different is attack/defense ratings or perks on armor.
