What's the point in reaching 320 light?

Some folks genuinely enjoy what the game has to offer, as well as the grind. So to target the highest level in a game shouldn't seem so surprising. Some would disagree with that and I couldn't care less and I'm sure same goes for the ultimate grinders.

Since destiny's release, there hasn't been much point in reaching max light. It's honestly just an excuse to play the game. It's something to strive for. And it's how bungie has people hooked.

Uncertainty as to what challenges challenge mode will bring, coupled with having nothing else to do. And I suppose chasing a full set of raid gear for the shader

5 RepliesI saw a comment that was very true- That light level does bring the chicks to the yard. Reached light level 311 and had numerous women ask for help and added me. I was more then happy to help them. But in other ways, it does help in Ironbanner. I was 296 light with my hunter, tried golden gunning a Titan with light level 317 and he survived when he activated his Sunbreaker... I know the gun can kill Sunbreaker no problem in most situations, it's just light level really belittled my hunters golden gun. Was baffled... So yeah, Women and Ironbanner, does help in Raids too.

There's not. Thats why I haven't bothered with Destiny for a while now. Feels nice to play other games. I'll probably come back once they finally find a system that works.

There isn't one. Just makes content easier/more boring. Maxing Light is for raiding no-lifers, who're addicted to RNG loot drops. No different to any MMO, really. PvE becomes pointless once you've the guns and build you want. Unless you enjoy jumping through the same hoops over and over, Crucible is the only thing this game has to offer, long term. Playing other humans > playing dumb AI and mechanics.

9 RepliesIf we get to 315-320 now, will all our gear once again be made redundant like the last 2 dlcs and base game weapons and armour have been? If it is, then we will have base game plus 3 dlcs worth nothing, but having cost around $200 And with addition of a new dlc, making 5 options of gear, if the rest isn't on the same level as new dlc, then 80% of the game will be pointless... currently 75% of it is... Destiny is the only game I know where after 1 year, and $200, 75% of the game is pointless.
