Okay so i have just watched the live action trailer which is awesome but i am just wondering what language they would be speaking. Sure the UNSC would be speaking English and not some kind of Slavic language?
-
I thot I herd a nein in there which is german for no.
-
HOY MEETS BOY Also, yes, they are speaking Hungarian.
-
The only thing I disliked about the game is the "boy's" visor when he's dropping into the battle. It looks plastic.
Posted by: Deadlock v3 Its not Russian, its Hungarian lol. Do some research before guessing.
Yes, it is Hungarian. I am Hungarian, I don't speak it but I can recognize it. and in the behind the scenes video of it the director says that the ODST drill trainer in the video when the main guy is crawling in the mud, is a Hungarian Special Forces soldier firing blank rounds.
-
The language spoken by the Marines is Hungarian, but the director said they are Russian-ethnic, just a mixup. The song is Welsh.
-
This is Hungarian. This was confirmed by Urk himself- I promise.
Posted by: MasterJh
Posted by: stutzand
Posted by: Cavedweller2995 obviously Russian if the guys name is tarkov.
my last name is stutzman, do i speak german? idiot.
Wow...Either you're trolling...badly...Or you're just plain stupid...Russian people speak Russian, unbelievably...Germans, Swiss and a few other countries speak german as a main language but Russia uses Russian. Next time, try not to be so retarded whilst insulting someone :)
Oh dear... Do you think a surname determines what language some speaks? There plenty of people around the world who are 2nd or 3rd generation migrants who don't speak their "native" language...
-
the song is in gaelic (aka irish). probably that far into the future, the human race has established an official language. it just makes communication to difficult to have so many languages, especially if humans have populated other worlds. seeing as english is probably the most commonly spoken language in the world today, it was molst likely decided that english would be this "official" language.
Posted by: Gallop444SJA what i meant was that all the characters in halo 3 pretty much have an american accent. and we're just supposed to believe this? i say they should stick a random french person in there. or maybe a saudi. that would spice things up.
I would love to see that. It would add a lot more depth to the characters and the true war experience if they had that. Sigh....
-
Posted by: dahuterschuter Russian, Romanian, Slovakian. Eastern European language of some sort.
That's sort of what I was thinking.
-
Posted by: Cavedweller2995 obviously Russian if the guys name is tarkov.
Well he could be Bulgarian. But i think they are speaking Russian. P.S. Russian and Bulgarian languages are almost the same
Posted by: MasterJh
Posted by: Phoenix1330 you realize that 500 years in the future almost no language we speak today would be the same? also to he who said they were tired of all the american characters...(i'm Canadian BTW) Bungie has taken great care to make every main character a person who was born on a different planet or moon. none of them were even born on earth
I know for a fact that Johnson was... so are a few others, as far as i am aware. I think Miranda was either born on Earth or Luna...
what i meant was that all the characters in halo 3 pretty much have an american accent. and we're just supposed to believe this? i say they should stick a random french person in there. or maybe a saudi. that would spice things up.
Posted by: Gallop444SJA i thought it was the best move possible having it in russian, or any other language for that matter.. helps expand the halo universe past america. i was getting choked up with all the annoying american accents and the cliched dialogue. bravo.
-
you just haven't noticed before, because SPARTAN suits have translators...
-
Russian, Romanian, Slovakian. Eastern European language of some sort.

A friend of mine is russian. She said she didn't understand a word. EDIT: But she said it might be bulgarian. [Edited on 09.04.2009 12:16 PM PDT]

Yeah I'm pretty darn sure it's Russian. As for the whole unified language thing, English may be the basic language but that doesn't mean they still don't speak their cultural language in their own country.
