Scout Rifle aficionados- What do you value most in a Scout Rifle?

I'm looking to hear from Scout Rifle vets to get a better sense of the type of Scout Rifles that they have found to be successful in PvP with. Specifically, what rate of fire and impact do you favor? How would you prioritize the top three stats on a Scout Rifle (e.g., Stability, Mag Size, Reload Speed, etc.)? And what specific perks do you value in your Legendary SRs?

  • Depends if it looks & sounds like a VoC im a happy bunny & my 310 treads with Triple tap & explosive rounds does me just fine. Got a 310 hung jury with triple tap & fire fly a last extremity with fire fly & triple tap aswell. Oh & that PoS called the Touch of Mallice its a god damn disgrace of a scout rifle & probably wont come out of my vault unless I feel like using in the raid but I can do just fine with my Treads & a Spindle. ToM sucks ass & I mean a big fat smelly cellulite looking ass.

    • Good stability, larger mag sizes are what I look for in a good scout.

    • Good scout must be able to reliably one shot red bars in the head, good stability, 17+ mag. Firefly is a plus.

    • Stability is a must, reload speed is a preference for me as well. I love all scouts honestly.

    • Stability. I'm using the full auto Suros the gunsmith had a few weeks ago. The stability is really high as well as range. It's my weapon of choice in crucible. Consistent headshots allow me to out gun pulse rifles.

    • Stability. Since they're mid-long range stability is a must unless the fire rate is low enough

Honest question from a scout rifle fan. Why full auto? I swear it doesn't speed up the fire rate (could be wrong on this) and there are other perks that are more useful in my own opinion Honest feedback would be appreciated! Thank you in advance *edit* damn my post looks stupid starting two different lines with "honest"

      • Balanced stats across the board, triple tap, and preferably high stability; but, the Omolon scout's aesthetics wins me over immediately, the thump it creates is just too satisfying to ever stop firing.

      • When a scout rifle must subconsciously bury it's shots into an enemies brains. Sometimes the gun WANTS to shoot for the head and you just gotta point it at an enemy.

      • Honestly I'm about the RoF and how good the roll is. My favorite scout us the MIDA

      • Personally, I prefer the fast fire archetypes with auto fire. Because I don't want carpal tunnel.

      • I guess it really depends. Personally, my favorite for pve is the hung jury archetype. (Not necessarily the exact gun though). It's very versatile and the impact to RoF ratio is about perfectly optimized for anywhere from long range to medium-close range. For pvp it depends on how you like to play. My favorite gun it the Inward lamp (very high RoF and low impact. With this gun the mag cap is pretty high, so you don't generally need to worry about reload. Stability is pretty important. But your play style may have you making longer shots where you only want to have to hit your opponent 3-4 times. If that's the case you'll want a lower rate of fire and higher impact like last extremity). Stability won't be as important, and likely neither will mag size depending on your reload speed. (Either one is good) My personal favs are: Inward lamp with hidden hand (pvp) Hung jury with triple tap and firefly (pve)

        • Rate of fire. Im not a fan of slow firing scouts like ghelions. I always preferred VoC or deadshot luna archetype of scouts

Depends on gametype. Pvp I want impact and ease of use, say full auto. Pve I want range, accuracy and some form of crowd damage potential. I had a year 1 gheleons demise with full auto, zen moment and explosive rounds that laid waste in all gametypes. Haven't been half as fortunate this year.

        • Stability and impact are my top priority. I favor stability over impact because I ADS about 70% of the time. All the impact in the world won't help if you can't consistently and rapidly lay critical hits down and stability helps that even on the move.

        • Something well-balanced overall. My favorite scout on another account was the vendor version of the Another NitC, it had a great range, rof and reload speed. I also used to run a ghelions demise in crota with flared magwell, outlaw and firefly, and my vendor hung jury trumps that by a mile. Ive also become a fan of the faster firing scouts as well, like the inward lamp from trials

        • I love scouts I used them through year one ,along side my red death but now the pulse rifle is in meta and I hate using the same shit as everyone else so I'm exclusivey using scouts for pvp and pve Some pvp maps though are more suited for pulse rifles (exodus blue for example) But aside from mida having almost my perfect set up in terms of RoF and impact I lean more towards high rate of fire , it adds pressure on the meta using fast pulses But high stability and a nice sights are what take for granted.. Scouts inherently have good range
