Destiny 2 REQUIRES Dedicated Servers
Its honestly baffling when you think about how destiny is strictly online only yet it is still using a shit, cheap peer-to-peer system.
Take a look at halo, battlefront/battlefield, CoD. Those games arent strictly online only yet they all have dedicated servers.
At this stage its a complete joke. Im constantly being told Im lagging when Im not. I have a fibre optic cable coming into my house and I am able to stream netflix and play halo 5 fine with 0 lag. But when I play destiny its weasles, caterpillar errors and buckets of hate mail for supposedly being laggy.
Your cheap-ass corner cutting and crappy peer-to-peer system is ruining this game. I honestly feel you (Bungie) are too afraid to ask Ca$htivision to just cough up some spare change and get some DEDICATED FVCKING SERVERS!
Oh and while youre at it drop last gen and give us 60 fps. I almost had a seizure coming back to this after Halo 5 and SWB.

1 ReplyYou know CoD doesn't use dedicated servers right? It's pretty easy to tell for each game; if your game's match selection links you to a dedicated server that server will at least have a name if not an IP address in the selection menu (see Planetside or Team Fortress2). If it's P2P it will just have a "look for match" or equivalent option (see CoD). At least that's a simple way of looking at it.

1 ReplyI think for destiny 2 they need to just focus on current gen. Destiny is one of the only console games still trying to be played on both platforms. The vault space problem of year one was there because they wanted to accommodate both gens (this was super nice if bungie but looking forward I think they have to see they are already really pushing the limits of the 360 and PS3). Think of a destiny with graphics and frames equivalent to halo 5. And with bungie having already more amazing story and cutscenes in TTK a destiny 2 with dedicated servers and halo looking quality would easily be worth the buy. I'm just don't know if they would be willing to stop supporting older gens, I have no idea how much of the community is still on old gen and if stopping support would crush the profits and end up killing the game... :/

5 RepliesI was able to play star wars battlefront while my brother was downloading game updates ranging from 3.4 gig to 7.8 gig with no lag it just goes to show the wonders of dedicated servers which is what methstiny needs

6 RepliesCOD is arguably Activisions biggest franchise, it still does not have dedicated servers (the reason I don't buy since BLOPS 1) so I doubt Destiny 2 will.

They no doubt need to add servers this weekend in trials every passage at least twice I got messaged about being a lag switcher when all I've been trying to do since I started playing destiny is get my internet as good as possible

Here's the thing though, dedicated servers require money to run, and activi$ion is producing the game. So you tell me, using activi$ion'$ mindset would you open dedicated servers to make the player base happier, or would you ignore it to make more profit?
