It truly is a good game for younger children and is a fun way to teach kids. It introduces real world events such as where to find coal, how rare diamonds are, where lava is located, and how the agricultural era worked. It can be a social game so it teaches to a degree of social skills but extended amounts of time is not well. It teaches kids how to manage items and how not everything is easy. Mine craft also teaches kids how to express their creativity with its expansive building possibilities.
i don't play mine craft my self but my nephews do and I see how it helps kids learn to a degree.
It has a great story too!

Yep it teaches children to not mine down if they want to become a miner when they grow up or else they will run into lava. Also to not go outside during the night in case of creepers.
-
Remember kids, if you go too far underground, you'll fall into a hellish void
-
Its all fun and games until you are falsely accused and banned of Xraying.
-
i prefer RUST
-
Red stone is an awesome way to teach kids creativity and problem solving.
-
I like minecraft, too. I play on a server with a few friends every now and then. We have a tree farm, a few animal farms, and a Blaze farm near our base in the Nether!

Edited by Senor Crouch: 11/23/2015 7:41:57 AMNot to mention when you add mods to it like Buildcraft, Thaumcraft, IndustrialCraft2, NEI, Railcraft, etc then you start to get into building solar panels, geothermal generators, railroads, electric furnaces, engines, etc. I love Minecraft, it is so much fun and allows me to be totally creative. Those who like modding Minecraft and have never heard of Feed The Beast before, totally check it out. They have some serious mod packs you can play with. My favorite is their Infinity mega-mod pack. You do not know Minecraft 1.7.10 until you've experienced FTB Infinity. Some fun additional mods that I have found are compatible with FTB Infinity are: - Universal Coins - Great for setting up NPC shops. - Utility Mobs - Who doesn't like auto-turrets? - Secret Rooms - Shhhh, it is a secret to everybody. - Tails & FoxLib - Because who doesn't want to have a fox tail? - iBench - For those who remember Dartcraft's Clipboard portable crafting table.

Diamonds are some of the most common minerals on Earth, only reason they are so expensive is because a small amount of companies own a monopoly on mining them.
-
Creative mode is great, you really can build anything you want, It's like a endless bin of legos
-
The game it self is marvelous for creativity, patience, and resource management (at least early game). And, to some extents, communication and cooperation. The community is one of the single worst you will find in gaming however.
-
It also teaches them to stay away from the big green dicks that try to pick them up at the park

With mods sure

Edited by a clumsy scrub: 11/23/2015 2:29:04 AMIts also great for anyone with half a creative mind. My group of friends ages 15-28 had a map going that was soooo ballin. Huge base with lots of houses and a freakin barn, lots of horses, giant wall around the base that has a functioning doorway that allowed boats to come and go. Humongous mineshaft. Just everything. Had the host player been as into it as the rest of us, we probably would have gone on to kill the enderdragon. There was 8-11 of us involved in this map, that dragon would have gotten wrecked. Unfortunately, the player who owns the map got really bored and we couldnt convince him to play minecraft again. 500+ man-hours down the drain. For those unfamiliar with man-hours, its the combined time of a group of people. We didn't spend 500 hours each lol that would be the best map ever though.
-
Not to mention it also helps them prepare for the zombies.
-
I like it but it gets boring really fast, they need to update it more to have more stuff
-
it was cool when it was little but microsoft -blam!-ed. it up trying to sell toys of all kinds really makimg it seem like a game for 5y olds
also fck the community
-

-
It's a great game, but the fanbase can be, well...
-
I love minecraft. It's a really relaxing game to play.
