Anybody else prefer shotgun meta to snipers?
I suck at crucible I accept, but lately have been doing a whole lot worse than ever before. I velieve it's because the snipers have taken over. When shotguns were the one to pick, everyone has a reasonably even ground, whereas snipers do take an intense amount of skill to pull off. The elite snipers are destroying everyone because noone else can even look down the scope before losing their skull. At least with shotguns it was pretty much 50/50 with equal weapons. I guess I need to put ALOT of sniper practise in :') or just avoid crucible until next month and dust off the ol' fusion rifle.

With shotguns not being as crazy (thank God) you can't get a lot of cheap easy kills oneshotting people at stupid ranges anymore. Map positioning comes into play and you have to think about the routs that you'll take and not blindly rush everywhere with your felwinter's sniper. It surely takes more skill (at least for me, my connection and my skill level too make sniping very challenging). Everyone seems to forget that shotguns and snipers are SPECIAL weapons... [spoiler]No, I'm not defending people that sit in the back of the map waiting for someone to come into their reticle. F*ck campers.[/spoiler]

Honestly? Yeah. Doesn't mean it was good. But it's a bit easier to take out a shotgunner as he charged you like an idiot than it is to try and cross-map a sniper with your primary. If sniping actually took some skill in this game, it'd be a different matter. The choke points are insane too.

2 RepliesI blame ppl complaining about fusion rifles back in those days fusion and shotguns where going head to head and you'll see that 1 or 2 ppl trying to snipe now it's just snipers oh and cod shotgunners * those who don't use blink but will run straight at you with their high range / slide combo*

I suck at pvp too and I find I'm doing better with my shotgun recently......probably because not everyone is using them. For every weapon choice there is a counter offencive so I just don't get the people who complain. I quite like getting one person to bait the sniper and another to flank them.

A game shouldn't try to reduce the skill gap. Making it easy for lesser skilled players shouldn't be the goal. If you're good, you deserve to do well the majority of the time. Good aim should be rewarded.

3 RepliesI sniped during the TLW/thorn meta and personally enjoyed it more. It had a faster pace and you were really penalized for making mistakes. Now the game seems to have slowed to a crawl and people are resorting to camp sniping which is extremely boring.

1 ReplyYou mean a meta when people actually moved around? Yeah, those were nice. I did so many matches today where all I saw was Snipers. Doesn't bug me because A LOT of people don't seem to understand not to stay scoped in. Easy kills.

Honestly last meta was OK. Because everyone ran shotties making my job as a sniper easier.

Preferred Shotgun/HC meta, at least people actually ran around the map instead of camping and good players would still win their 1v1 fights. Now the meta is just who can camp harder and teamshot more.

I used to be beastly at sniping but then I uograded to xbox 1 and just for the life of me couldn't snipe worth a shit. I'm not good at it anymore and it bugs me because that's all I used to do with me ldr. Idk if it's bec of the new meta or the new remote or different player base but I can't shoot proper

Although sniping really helps my headshot game I really did love whole teams trying to out maneuver each other and slide/blink shotgunning each other. It was fun and engaging.

1 ReplyIf snipers didn't have the crazy amount of aim assist they have, crucible would be more enjoyable. I like the sniper meta a bit more but some of the shots I land are insane due to the assist, and if you aren't using a 1000 yard stare you might be putting yourself in a disadvantage.

1 ReplyEdited by grind4mine: 11/23/2015 9:28:56 PMOnly gripe i have about snipers is they talk all over the forums like they're the most skilled players on destiny.eh..that aim assist has everything to do with snipers being successful...this is not a complaint because i was running around with the last word when it could 2 shot you from across the map,i ran around with the vex mythoclast when that thing was god..i used felwinters and matador when they had shot pacakge and almost never lost a close range battle lol...and i never got on here saying how skilled i was because i know all those weapons were op.Now to all that snipe..do what you do and keep havin fun...but you probaly should get off that high horse and hope bungie never substantially nerfs that aim assist...peace.

Team with too many snipers are easy to beat. Everyone thinks they're a sniper now and they dont really score a lot unless you're good at it

It's funny because when fusion rifles could snipe everything was balanced except primaries.

The sniper game was perfect. I hate how it's the new meta cause now we're seeing worst this play style has to offer, endless camping and covering easy headshot spots.

I hate snipers its annoying when people just hide in the back of the map and pick you off. Its boring id rather get killed by a shotgun and wt least have a chance to win the fight
