Hawkmoon's nerf doesn't make sense
This nerf to hawkmoon's range doesn't make sense. Compare it the range of the first curse (not that big difference)... though the first curse is almost max impact... and the first curse is getting a range BUFF. So, why does the Hawkmoon, with less impact, is getting a nerf to range, and the first curse, a higher impact getting it's range buffed? It doesn't make sense. Unless, like someone said, it's all to avoid the first curse getting shadowed by hawkmoon.
Edit: And why now after two years! Why nerfing what has been not an issue for two years. The Hawkmoon has been in service for two years now! Why nerf it now?

Because they wanted the first curse to be the longest ranged hand cannon out of the exotics (kinda like how the last word is the fastest firing) and they said with the accuracy buff to all hand cannons Hawkmoon out shines every single hand cannon by miles. Unfortunately it's gonna happen I guess we just have to except it

Let you in on a secret. Jon W. Used to be in a charge of porting over to hand held systems like the PS Vita. Found this out back in a year1 Q&A With the designers. Then Bungie put him in charge of weapon design. Makes sense right?

I wanna bet that the next weapon class to get nerfed is going to be scout rifles and sometime in the future sniper rifles. This constant nerfing is pure incompetence. They should bring back the hawk moon to its original state 13 bullets should go back to nine But oooooh I might be to op, to whom I get one shotted all the time. The gun sucks, at least for me. I miss the yr one guns looks like they tried to please the crucible cry babies. So they nerfed Every decent gun in the game. I liked the thorn had a lot of fun with it, seems like bungie hates you having fun. So it nerf Nerf Nerf Nerf Crucible should be a separate game, so all those ass wipes can nerf themselves

To make room for the new weapons coming out. Just like you mentioned, they want people to use the first curse. As well as all exotics. Hawkmoon is popular no doubt. That's why it gets nerfed. Kinda like how the ghallahorn was back in the day. Everyone used it who had it for everything. Anything else was just second best. Hence the gally was nerfed and decommissioned.

1 ReplyAfter the tests they did with the upcoming update and handcannon buff. Hawkmoon was a clear front runner and most likely no other hand cannons would be used. That's why they're slightly nerfing it to keep HC's balanced and they don't have another Thorn/TLW type of meta.

People will still use Hawkmoon regardless of the nerf. Hawkmoon is still capable of two shotting and its in the superior hand cannon archetype. Fist Curse has so many things going against it. Range buff is not a problem.

FC's whole purpose is to be a sniper. Hawkmoon's purpose is to be a lucky shooter AND a sniper? See a little problem here? Don't worry, hawk will still be unstoppable, just at a bit closer range

Bungie messed up (surprise) and did not apply the weapon tuning nerf of hand cannons to the Hawkmoon.

2 RepliesBecause they want the First Curse to be competitive with Hawkmoon. Right now the Hawk is king by far over all other hand cannons, and can even outrange most exotics from other classes as well
