So... do sunbreakers need a nerf?

Curious what you all think with iron banner and trials and it being out for awhile now. And maybe nerf the super, buff neutral game. Or just nerf it's armor a little bit. Discuss.

  • Real Titans run defender. Sunbreaker is a waste and is by far the weakest of the Titan classes.

    • I do agree, I run a titan and think that if they took some of the shield when you use the super it would be easier to kill them. Its a little unfair that all a titan has to do is pop a super and that can change the whole outcome of the match

      • in Iron banner I got cut before I could even throw a hammer by other supers , heavy weapons & just plain being shot at But I also got multiple hammer kills, multiple lighting kills on my warlock & wiped out how many players by tethering them on my hunter. remind me which class is suposed to be overpowered compared to others

      • I'm a hunter main. Honestly I say no because in my experience I haven't had much problems with facing them. Sure I've been killed quite a lot by them this iron banner, but I've also shut a lot of them down with teamwork or special weapons. Having used the class, I frequently get killed before 3 kills due to other supers or good team play. Everyone knows how to run away now. Sure I have the occasional rampage but players have adapted. I don't know why you haven't?

        • At first I didn't think so, but then yesterday I popped my hammer and killed at least 5 guys..... I felt dirty and put on defender :)

        • Yeah, but nothing crazy. Just one of a modest reduction in: armor, health regen, range, or rate of fire could be enough. I wager see we'll see one of those in the December update. Alongside statistics backing up the change. And it won't be the end of the world, either.

          Here is my iron banner experience. 1) get up by 2k points 2) have a sunbreaker kill my entire team at the first heavy 3) hear 3-5 more titans pop their supers 4) have a sunbreaker kill my entire team and take the second heavy 5) lose by 2k points Just nerf the health down so a snipe to the head kills them. Edit: 3.5) run around avoiding hammers for 2 min

          • I think it's a tough call. If everyone on your team is working together to coordinate focus fire, titans get melted. They may get a kill but hammers move pretty slowly so they probably wont get more. Plus you can jump around and dodge. Hunters typically won't kill a whole team but it's pretty easy to get several kills and warlocks melt crowds and you can't really dodge the lightning. All that to say, I think it's fairly balanced for team play but pretty op for a game with everyman for himself.

            • Dang I thought titans were supposed to be tanks... I guess I was wrong, they should just be shit and always have the worst subclasses... Or maybe better yet just let everyone complain and let them completely remove the only thing that titans have had to get kills.. Yes I think that will work for the 70% of people screaming nerf over everything that kills them. I don't even main a Titan and it's ridiculous how many times I take them down. They should be kept how they are? Do you really think you should one shot a tank in real life without a heavy weapon like a rocket?

            • I ran my Titan in iron banner this time and found that I could change the outcome of the game with my super. The thing that I think needs a nerf the most is cauterize. It should NEVER affect the hammers. It frustrates me when we focus fire on a sunbreaker, and he kills one of us when he's at practically no health, and goes back to FULL HEALTH. How the -blam!- is that balanced?

                Hammer of Sol is just a joke. It's so overpowered compared to other supers it's unreal. People who say otherwise are either biased or stupid or both. Bungie just fails to play test this game time after time after time and it really starts to annoy me sometimes.

                • People frequently want to reduce hammer amounts to golden gun-esque amounts. But I think that would ruin the style. My proposal to balance sunbreaker would be to remove the healing and the tracking. Possibly removing one hammer and reducing damage reduction too, but I don't want to kill the subclass so those are only a maybe. It would become a lot harder to hit someone without tracking and removing the healing makes killing an active Hammer of Sol more feasible.

                  • Take away my abilities to help my team in it just PVP but PVE because us Titans were tired of Hunters and Warlocks kicking sand on us and we FINALLY get a subclass that's useful for almost any scenario for a change? I don't know. Maybe it's time for those who cried nerf to us to accept the fact that THEY need to, "Git gud." Because, gosh, sometimes, you need strategy with Destiny. So I'll put this in crayon terms for those who've forgotten what Year 1 Titans went through and did when we had to deal with you so called elite wusses.... Y'all got good, we got better. As Defender and Striker because we actually used strategy and kicked your butts.
