Hand cannons aside from the exotics weren't broken. Pulse rifles are all super strong. Seriously the class as a whole is just way too strong right now because they decided to destroy hand cannons.
Pulse rifles, as a whole class, are stronger than anything has ever been with the exception of perhaps the beta auto rifles.

Well when people nerfed hand cannons, it was logical to see what would follow if not only because it would be the next "it" weapon class. And that was pulse rifles. The next one will either be scouts or autos again. I'm leaning towards scouts to be the next one people flock to in light of the news of year ones coming back to year two "multi tool" baby! We still have to see how substantial the autos buff will be, however.

Trust me they are not op. I have been running several matches with several classes of weapons. Yes they are strong but not overpowered.
-
2 RepliesYou are a noob if you think pulse is more op than Thorn was.
-
2 RepliesNo. Pulse rifles are fine. The problem is almost everything else is extremely weak. Bungie needs to focus on rebuffing a huge chunk of the weapons in this game along with certain classes. This is what happens when people complain about everything under the sun for a whole year- including threads like this. Everything's been nerfed one, two three even up to five times.

Youre the reason this game is becoming garbage. Jump off your roof
-
Fatebringer? It was the only PvE weapon you needed. For anything other than a Nightfall burn.
-
Bump, pulse rifles as a whole weren't over powered just there was a couple that were powerful
-
2 RepliesNo one really claimed that hand cannons (other than the exotics) were OP. The problem was that they had too much range...but in typical fashion Bungie nerfed them with a sledgehammer rather than a scalple.
-
To me crucible now is just tedious. Not fun.

1 ReplyNah. Hand cannons and pulse rifles are on par... just that not everyone could use hand cannons (I couldn't stand using them)
-
I love how you are calling them broken. It's just their time to shine. Also, I'd say scout rifles are right next to pulse rifles, but scout rifles take a bit of more skill to use effectively. ~TheGreatNike

step1: get a good auto rifle step2: learn to shoot it step3: learn to close distance in cover, concepts of flanking, and map positioning step4: stick barrel in PR users mouth and brush their teeth with it step5: repeat step 4 repeatedly step6: profit

Pulse rifles don't touch what I used to be able to do to little boys with The Last Word. I miss the days of the hand cannon.
-
1 ReplyPulse rifles finally do what they are designed to do. Well placed shots at medium/long range.
-
1 ReplyOutside of Thorn and TLW handcannons needed a minor range tweak; not to get beat down by a legion of pissed off gamers wielding nerfbats. Now HCs are plain garbage in pvp and pve both. Yeah yeah yeah Hawkmoon etc etc. Hawkmoon is no longer Hawkawesome. That makes my point harder then anything else.
-
Pulse rifles were fine early on now they're just too good...
-
"aside from the exotics" No one cared about any hand cannons except for Thorn and Last Word.
-
8 RepliesInstead of nerfing everything to the dirt why don't we buff what 'sucks'? That sounds logical right?
-
I wish legendary Hand Cannons were still viable competitively. Definitely my favorite weapon class. Scouts being my second favorite. Which also aren't competitively viable. I don't like pulse rifles, but I'm pretty much forced to use them.
-
Does nobody remember last year how OP Hopscotch pilgrim and messenger was? Not much has changed, people will always find something to complain about. Last year it was shotguns and handcannons, now it's pulse rifles and snipers. Simply adapt and learn how to counter! I typically use Hawkmoon and Thesan FR4 (yes a fusion rifle) in both trials and IB and do just fine.

Was going to disagree until I saw you put "aside from the exotics"
-
I have been using pulse rifles since the beginning really...pretty happy the way they are
-
1 ReplyI loved pulse rifles before they were cool. I still have my super pox vlo and bad seed down. I'll never break down my babies!
-
1 ReplyThe big difference is when HC were OP on the XBOX you would see ~80% using Thorn and the other ~20 using the TLW. With pulse rifles I have seen maybe ~10 different ones being used so there is variety. I also see a fare amount of Scout rifles now being used a lot more than when HC were OP. Plus the big difference is you aren't getting shot by the Thorn and than dying several seconds later after you have gone into cover or killed the person that was shooting you.

1 ReplyEdited by Krunchy: 11/19/2015 7:12:22 PMI love pulse rifles and scout, I've always loved burst fire and semi auto (but not pistols/hand cannons) weapons in all fps games. So I'm very happy about where pulse rifles are right now, and even scout rifles are great right now. I definitely do not think that pulse rifles are overpowered right now, not even a little bit. However, I do think the other weapon types are underpowered at the moment. Hand cannon range got nerfed a bit too much and auto rifles need a buff to the amount of damage they do. Scout rifles, in my opinion, are in a pretty good place right now as well, they require precision and skilled shooting rather than spraying and praying; and with precise shooting, scouts are very effective. If anything, scout rifles could use a slight buff to the rate of fire for medium and slow firing scout rifles. Edit: also pulse rifles are not as strong now as the hand cannons were (when I say this, I'm obviously talking about the 2-3 hand cannons that everyone used- thorn, tlw, and hawkmoon). The time to kill for pulse rifles is slower than those hand cannons had. So no they are not more OP than the previous metas we've seen. But still, I've said what I think should be done to balance the other weapon types.
